JOB TITLE: Security Manager

DEPARTMENT: Security

REPORTS TO: Director of Security

LOCATION: Westchester County

SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Security Director, the Security Manager will oversee the daily operations of the Security Department within a homeless shelter / human services environment. The ideal incumbent must be proficient with security best practices with an emphasis on delivering professional security services in a social service setting.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, implement, and manage operational protocols with regards to the security function in the facility.
  • Provide supervision and training to Client Care Monitors, and Shift Supervisors to ensure that they are equipped to perform their duties effectively
  • Create weekly staff schedules and maintain a master staff schedule according to changing staffing patterns. Create an overtime assignment system to ensure fairness and the efficient use of staff resources.
  • In conjunction with the Director, conduct thorough investigations regarding incidents, accidents, employee misconduct.
  • Ensure that incident reports are clear and concise and are filed electronically in computer data base.
  • Conduct daily inspections of all security systems, fire alarm control panel, p.a. system, video surveillance system and building electronic access control systems.
  • Review the electronic time keeping system, sign in sheets and logs, and correct any errors identified. Submit to HR in a timely manner for payroll processing
  • Ensure that all Client Care Monitors and Shift Supervisors have valid Security Guard License, First Aid CPR AED Certifications.
  • Ensure that all materials needed for the department are ordered and maintained for appropriate security staff i.e supplies, uniforms, radios, etc.
  • Use Crisis Intervention when facilitating conflict resolution and mediation sessions involving residents and staff.
  • Attend all required training and participate in inter-departmental meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

NYS Security Guard license required. High school diploma required, Associates Degree preferred and at least three years of related security experience. Supervisory experience is required. Must have demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, crisis management, and knowledge of video surveillance and fire alarm systems. Knowledge of basic computer and software application required. Valid NYS driver s license required. 24 hour on-call for emergencies.
