The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will develop, lead, and integrate assembly processes and capital improvement projects to efficiently manufacture new and existing products. They lead Engineering and cross functional teams to implement improvements to existing equipment, manufacturing methods and tooling. This role will be required to work cross-functionally with other business areas including Product Engineering, Maintenance, R&D and Operations. This position will also be accountable for documentation with the ability to manage multiple projects and assignments.. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:. Leads CI/OPEX focused initiatives to achieve established SQDCME objectives. Ownership of plant layouts and flow. Provides engineering technical support for manufacturing and maintenance to meet productivity, quality and safety objectives. Applies technical knowledge to innovate, develop, design, and detail, equipment, fixturing, procedures, processes, tooling and/or automation. Leads process/product enhancements through Design for Manufacturability/Assembly reviews with Product Development Engineering. Leads manufacturing readiness reviews and supports Lean Product Development Process. Assesses process capabilities, identifies improvement opportunities, and integrates new processes and equipment to maximize manufacturing throughput and velocity. Collaborates with Manufacturing and Product Engineering to develop and implement new production processes which meets engineering and quality specifications. Participates in cross functional planning meetings to evaluate new products for process, manning and equipment requirements. Provides subject matter expertise for assigned manufacturing processes and equipment. Develops process documentation to meet quality system and safety requirements. Assists Operations with line and capacity planning. Develops RFQ's and print details to local fabricators/machine shops to determine assembly, fabrication and/or machining cost. Must be able to work well with others and could be called upon to train production associates on the use of new fixtures, templates and tooling. Processes purchase requisitions for required fixtures, gauges and tooling. Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, line balancing, space requirements and equipment layout. Trains and/or provides work direction to shop technicians, maintenance associates and contractors. Analyzes equipment downtime to improve reliability and reduce maintenance costs. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Education Requirements:. Bachelors Degree in: Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Computer Integrated Manufacturing Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or related fie. Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:. Five (5) or more years manufacturing/process engineering experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial type environment. Experience in a continuous process manufacturing environment - plastic extrusion, aluminum/steel, food/drug production. 1-2 years of experience with capital project management and justification. Experience working in an industrial, rapid response build-to-order business environment. Strong understanding of PLC, sensors, motors/drives, hydraulics/pneumatics, thermal process control. Must be proficient in Microsoft Project (or equivalent). Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma training. SAP experience a plus. Effective at developing and managing a project plan to achieve desired results. Ability to achieve required objectives through the leadership of others. Strong problem solving/trouble shooting experience. Must have the ability to work on projects both individually and cross-functionally. Manual machining and MIG welding experience a plus.
