No Position Summary and Qualifications Mission or Goal of Unit Childrens Hospital of Richmond of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System has committed itself to transforming the Pediatric Cardiology Division into a model academic unit devoted to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and clinical, translational, and basic research. Chief purpose of this position in support of above mission or goal VCU Medical Center and Childrens Hospital joined together in July 2010, forming Childrens Hospital of Richmond at VCU. Together, we are a full-service Childrens Hospital that offers a robust continuum of pediatric services, research and education. The Childrens Hospital of Richmond and the School of Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University are committed to transforming the Pediatric Cardiology Division into a model academic unit devoted to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and clinical, and basic research. This position will bring the expertise and leadership necessary to build a robust Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program as part of the CHF Heart Center. Position Responsibilities 1. Teaching Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in the area of Cardiology. Faculty member will provide guidance and mentorship to students, Residents, and Fellows in the area of Cardiology and the Intensive Care Unit. 2. Research Faculty member will have experience in securing revenue through grants and contracts and will serve as a research mentor to other members of the division and the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. 3. Service Faculty member will serve on departmental or School of Medicine committees when appropriate. 4. Clinical Faculty member will primarily be responsible for providing care of adult congenital heart disease patients. This position requires the candidate to develop a formal program and collaborate with the Adult Cardiology program. Required Qualifications Board Certified in Pediatrics and Cardiology Board Certified in Adult Congenital Heart Disease Experience with clinical care of patients ages birth to adulthood Experience with education of house staff, medical students, and others Experience with research Excellent interpersonal skills Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
