What You Will Do

The Divisional Merchandising Manager at The North Face is responsible for providing direction and vision for key divisions to develop and execute merchandising strategy in order to balance assortments flow and financial targets and maximizes sales. This person provides dynamic leadership to positively impact business initiatives and brings a track record in managing successful DTC businesses and proven experience in merchandising.

How You Will Make A Difference

  • Lead buying team in best practices, managing internal/external customer relationships, and utilizing strong business acumen to elevate business and operational excellence.
  • Develop business plans that drive territory sales in stores and online by conceptualizing and leading the execution of long and short-term merchandising strategies.
  • Achieve key sales, gross margin and inventory expectations which meet or exceed financial objectives for the division.
  • Present seasonal strategies and lead the execution of merchandising plans based on big brand stories, classification analysis, key item opportunities and seasonal segmentation to enhance story-telling capabilities, increase topline sales and bottom line profitability.
  • Represent DTC brand territory point-of-view in influencing cross functional relationships (i.e. buying team, regional and global merchandising, product, design, visual presentation, marketing etc.) to ensure key areas of investment are fully supported in Go-to-market process.
  • Partner with Senior Buyers in understanding key business opportunities in current season to communicate and influence regional/global merchandising team son future DTC seasonal assortment needs.
  • Develop and organize collection-based reporting for weekly/monthly/quarter/seasonal/fiscal executive level-presentations.
  • Solution-based diplomatic approach in all matters as key representation in cross-functional meetings and presentation.
  • Partner with planning manager to provide buying team direction in management of target contribution by brand territories. Manage the merchandising of product lines and final assortment selections via territory focus.
  • Coordinate merchant/visual/planning/allocation store visits to assess floor sets, and recap learnings on strategies.
  • Mentor and develop Senior Buyers in fostering collaboration and alignment to overall balance of financial and brand needs

  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate up and down, influencing decisions and actions.
  • Thinks outside of the norm for new merchandising concepts. Balance between merchandising, inventory management financial planning/analysis skills.
  • Advanced computer skills required, including a solid knowledge Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Knowledge of online merchandise techniques
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Able to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Able to understand financial measurements and how to impact them.
  • Strong merchandise planning/analysis and the inventory pipeline skills from concept to permanent markdown.
  • Strong communication skills required.

  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to handle large volumes of work independently.
