Analyst, Product Stewardship- Outdoor and Active Brands: Become the Newest Member of the VF Family:

The Product Stewardship Analyst for VF outdoor and active brands harnesses the power of internal standards set by global product stewardship team to have a positive impact on design and development of products and is responsible for ensuring products outdoor and active brands: The North Face, JanSport, ALTRA, eagle creek, smartwool; place in the market comply with applicable product safety requirements. The Product Stewardship Analyst for VF outdoor and active brands shall be proficient in legislation and regulatory requirements along with outdoor and active brands product development strategies, using this information to implement a comprehensive strategy to ensure products and materials designed to be used in products are compliant and safe. Additionally, this role will partner with Americas product stewardship manager to manage control-related standards and procedures and assist to regularly evaluate, update, and educate internal teams as needed. This position must also operate proactively to provide necessary information to global product stewardship team for filing US state reporting on chemical use.

How You Will Make a Difference:

  • The Product Stewardship Analyst for VF outdoor and active brands will be proficient in product safety regulations and support global product stewardship in development and management of VF s global product safety standards, product safety manual, restricted substances policy and product labeling guidelines.
  • This individual will partner with product design, development and material teams to conduct product design safety review meetings to identify and eliminate potential foreseeable safety defects.
  • This individual will manage product safety requirements for outdoor and active brands by taking VF global standards and translating them to brand level internal standards, implementing these on VF sourced, owned production, licensee products, and gift with purchase/promotional items. The individual engages cross-functional teams consisting of brand level design, development, material, legal and laboratory to develop guidance and procedures that ensure all global product safety and product standards are met.
  • This position will directly lead the work on enhancing brand safety testing protocols aligning them with global product stewardship standards by conducting research and evaluating material and product test results. This role shall develop a cadence to select, prepare and coordinate shipment of products for targeted testing as scheduled for direct sourced and internal manufacturing products.
  • The Product Stewardship Analyst for VF outdoor and active brands will work on product defects, returns and complaints by isolating potential safety hazards, developing internal corrective action plans with development teams and implementing the action items to ensure product compliance of all products designed and placed in the market.
  • This role will investigate accidents and injuries related to product, work closely with global product stewardship, legal and customer service to provide necessary information to manage saferproducts.gov, customer and consumer responses, product defect responses, etc. This role will lead product labeling work from the brands side by research and follow-up on labeling requirements, updates, and work closely with global labeling specialist and core labeling team from brands to help implement labeling requirements.
  • The Product Stewardship Analyst for VF outdoor and active brands will lead the work on ensuring individuals and departments; inside of VF outdoor and active brands, have the appropriate knowledge, training, and support to uphold their role in assuring product safety and the production of a compliant product.
  • This role will develop and own a cadence for monthly and quarterly reporting/KPIs, tell clear, concise, and insightful stories from analysis to various internal and external audiences.
  • Skills for Success:

    Years of Related Professional Experience: 7+ years

    Educational/ Position Requirements:

  • BS degree in a technical field such as engineering, chemistry, etc. is required.
  • 7+ years of experience in consumer product regulatory compliance, legal, chemistry and product safety.
  • Must be a proficient communicator.
  • Must be self-directed.
  • Must be able to explain technical aspects to a non-technical audience.


  • Apparel and Footwear Product Safety and Supply Chain experience.
  • Exceptional analytical skills & attention for detail
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Domestic and international travel up to 20%.
