The Medical Technologist shall have a thorough knowledge of Clinical Laboratory Science and the knowledge and skills to perform tests of high complexity, working with established procedures in multiple departments of the Laboratory. The Technologist shall show good judgment with attention to detail as well as respect for patient rights to confidentiality. Work requires above average accuracy, and shall demonstrate competency in technical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills. The Technologist shall interact courteously and professionally with co-workers, medical staff, patients, visitors, and others. The Technologist shall demonstrate the ability to perform several tests/tasks concurrently with accuracy and within established turn around times. The employee shall actively support the policies of the Laboratory and hospital.Employee shall work in a clean, well lighted Laboratory. Technologists working in Microbiology shall have sound knowledge of all areas of Microbiology and Serology/Immunology in addition to those requirements listed above.Certifications: MT (ASCP), CLS/NCA, MT (AMT), MT (HEW) or equivalent Education: MD/DO, PhD, MS, BS or BA in Chemistry or Biological Science or Medical Technology; qualified as technologist/technician under CLIA rules. Individuals who are newly ASCP certified beginning January 2004 must participate in the BOR Certification Maintenance Program. Experience: Experience beyond training and computer skills are helpful but not required.
