Requisition Number: 18526 Location: Chicago, IL Employment Type: University Staff Schedule: Full-Time Posting Close Date: 23-Jun-2019 Close All Job Summary The Office of Admissions welcomes applications for Assistant Director - Chicago Regional . This position is based in the Chicago metro area and is responsible for recruitment activities in this region. Extensive travel within the state, and limited out-of-state travel, with weekend and evening work is required. This position oversees all recruitment activity in the state of Illinois, as well as Wisconsin, Indiana, and Missouri. Position is responsible for representing the University of Colorado Boulder in all admission- related activities in this region, helping determine new initiatives, evaluating existing recruitment efforts and representing CU-Boulder within Chicago Area Regional Representatives (CARR) organization and the Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC). This individual provides admission counseling by communicating and interpreting admissions policies and procedures to prospective students, parents, high school counselors, and community college administrators. This position is responsible for reading/evaluating freshman and transfer admissions applications, as assigned. This position receives minimal supervision in the performance of daily routine. This position involves long periods of driving and participation at recruitment events in evening and weekend programs. Individual must maintain a home office. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Recruitment Planning Determine in coordination with the Senior Assistant Director of Admissions and Associate Director of Admissions, CU Boulder recruitment activities in the states of Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Missouri, with focus on the Chicago land area. Create a recruitment schedule and strategy based on specific, targeted high schools throughout the region. Represent CU Boulder to a broad range of constituents at college fairs, community college visits, large scale receptions and other recruitment activities in this region. Formulate and implement a strategic recruitment plan for the territory. Review and make admission decisions on freshman and transfer applicants. Regularly pull and analyze applicant lists to ensure a smooth admissions process for students. Leadership and Strategic Vision Help determine new recruitment and yield initiatives in the region, with focus on the Chicago area. This includes identifying new markets within the region, participating in new activities on a trial basis and evaluating the outcome of those events and working to position CU Boulder at the forefront of prospective students, high schools, and colleges in the region. Become an active participant in the Chicago Area Regional Representatives (CARR) organization and Illinois Association of College Admissions Counselors (IACAC). This includes attending conferences, regular meetings and college fairs conducted throughout the state of Illinois. Participation in recruitment outside of the region may be required. Communication Liaison Conduct admission presentations to various populations. Advise and counsel prospects, applicants, and students on University admissions policies, procedures, and requirements. Develop and maintain effective communication with constituents in the university, high schools, other institutions of higher education, government agencies, community based organizations and professional organizations regarding the admission of students to CU Boulder. Serve as point-of-contact for students, parents, and counselors in the territory. Coordination & Support Coordinate Alumni volunteers in the region. This requires developing relationships, coordinating alumni for events, conducting in person training to new volunteers and acting as a liaison between regional alumni and the Coordinator for the CU Boulder Alumni Volunteer Network. Professional Development Manage, train, supervise, and evaluate professional and non-professional staff members including student staff. Participate in staff development activities including appropriate university workshops, conferences and programs, and state and national professional organizations. This will require multiple trips back to the state of Colorado throughout the year. Participates in several on-campus programs per year. What We Can Offer Anticipated Starting Salary is $50,000. Two years of student recruitment experience, which includes experience overseeing a recruitment territory. Valid driver's license. Ability to drive to local high schools and other venues for weekly visits and fairs. Some overnight travel will also be required. Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with a diverse group of people within Enrollment Management, across campus, and outside of the University. What We Would Like You To Have 3 years working with student recruitment at a collegiate institution. Knowledge of University of Colorado Boulder. Public speaking experience. Knowledge of admission and recruitment practices in higher education. Familiarity using various office software programs such as Windows, Microsoft Office Suite and student information systems.
