The Registered Professional Nurse represents UMMC in coordinating and overseeing patient care delivery with an interdisciplinary approach, utilizing the nursing process with a commitment to customer service.The Registered Nurse directs, provides patient care, teaching, participates in continuous quality improvement, educational experiences and documents complete and accurate patient information.They maintain standards of professional nursing practice and supports the nursing philosophy and objectives, as well as initiatives. Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; performing various treatment procedures; providing physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervising assigned team members + Planning & Communication. Develop and document individualized care plans customized for each patient's unique needs, with support from the interdisciplinary health team as needed; maintain effective communication to convey patient health status, treatment plans and progress + Electronic Health Record (EHR) Management. Demonstrate proficient use of an EHR - including accurate patient and provider documentation and communication + Compliance. Adhere to required department and system protocols, regulations (local, state, federal) and education requirements Minimum Qualifications:Education/Training: Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Graduate from an approved school of nursing program. OB experience in labor and delivery, nursery, post-partum and NRP is preferred. Annual CPR certification required. PALS preferred.Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure to practice in the State of New York, NRP certification required within one year. Advanced Cardiac Life Support within one year. Experience/Skills/Abilities: Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in a caring, considerate and concerned manner. Willingness to accept responsibility. Ability to direct ancillary and assistive staff and organize work assignments. Leadership skills essential to the position. All practices and patient care decisions will be consistent with established hospital policy and procedure, The Joint Commission and all state and federal laws.
