Working under the Director of Production Services, the Venue Services Manager creates and manages the Venue Services plan for all event-specific staff, including Front of House (FOH) staff, security, and other contractors; plans, assesses, and proposes revisions of plans to meet venue needs for all events at Centennial Hall and for all UA Presents events.

The University of Arizona is in the process of creating a new classification and compensation architecture. Duties & Responsibilities

Develop and schedule Venue Services plans in accordance with specifications and funding limitations, and recommend new or revised goals and objectives in Venue Services area while monitoring program expenditures and ensuring that budget allocations are not overspent.

Manage multiple budgets, such as expenditures on FOH staff and contractors, concessions and merchandise profits/losses, and expenditures on other University departments.

Acts as the primary Event Manager for events and schedules additional managers for multi-show weeks.

Oversee daily operations of:

  • FOH Staff, including house managers and volunteer and part time ushers:
    oProvide training for Centennial Hall staff (including but not limited to house managers and volunteer and part time ushers) in accessibility policies, CPR/first aid certification, house security, and evacuation plans.
    oEnsure quality customer service by resolving problems and identifying ways to improve the services offered to patrons.
    oRecruit volunteer and part time ushers utilizing most appropriate promotional or marketing methods, such as individual letters, brochures or presentations at meetings.
    oManage, review and develop Centennial Hall’s volunteer usher program and systems.
  • Security and safety:
    oImplement Centennial Hall security guidelines to ensure the safety of all Centennial Hall patrons and artists. Participate in keeping the Hall’s safety and security guidelines current by working directly with University departments such as Risk management and UAPD.
    oBe proficient in the use of Centennial Hall safety equipment such as first aid kits, defibrillator and fire alarm system.
  • Concessionaires and other merchandisers:
    oManage, schedule, and expand Centennial Hall’s concessions and merchandizing business. Prepare periodic reports, financial statements, records, and other special reports for management on program activities, progress, and status.
    oCoordinate and settle merchandise sales with show staff.
  • Custodial/Facilities Management:
    oDetermine and/or arranges physical maintenance of facility as required; oversees daily security of facility; checks work of staff assigned in these areas.
    oInteract with Centennial Hall’s HVAC and fire safety systems.
    Parking and Transportation:
    oManage and schedule parking/lot arrangements in accordance with the needs of Production, Development and individual patrons.
  • Accessibility resources
    oManage Centennial Hall’s ADA plan.
    oExecute accessibility requests for all patrons and schedule all American Sign Language interpreters and audio describers in conjunction with patron/event requests.
  • Work with UA Presents, Broadway in Tucson, and other promoters to coordinate additional development, marketing, and education/outreach events, including: scheduling lobby and patio space and making parking, CatTran, and custodial reservations, to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications.

    Review internal documents and tools either independently or with supervisor to make decisions pertaining to Venue Services plan.

    Confer with and advise staff, students, and others to internally provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, answers to questions, and plan’s goals and policy interpretation; refer to appropriate department person when unable to respond.

    Evaluate the Venue Services plan’s effectiveness to develop improved methods, devise evaluation methodology, and implement revision; analyze results and recommend and/or take appropriate action.

    Attend campus meetings on behalf of the venue; meetings include campus wide meetings and topic-specific and/or event-specific meetings with other University departments.

    Assist in other responsibilities as needed to create an exceptional experience for all guests of Centennial Hall.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Minimum Qualifications

    •Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years related experience
    •experience managing a facility of similar size and/or scope
    •Familiar with Americans with Disabilities Act
    •Ability to obtain HOV certification from University Risk Management.
    •Ability to complete Arizona Department of Liquor management training and registration.
    •Proficient with MS Office
    •Knowledge of issues pertaining to area of assignment
    •Knowledge of budgeting and accounting principles
    •Knowledge of organizational practices
    •Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles
    •Skill in organizing work of self and others
    •Ability to effectively communicate
