The position plays a key role in the OIT Research Computing cloud strategy. The position will collaborate within OIT Research Computing and other academic units on campus to develop infrastructure for the delivery of student and faculty facing science gateways and data portals.

OIT Research Computing provides training and consulting in the area of computational science and engineering and data management to CU Boulder researchers and students. OIT Research Computing offers a supercomputer, a research data storage service, data sharing support, and a friction free network for large data transfers as well as consulting services for students and faculty. Research computing is a dynamic and collaborative organization who aim to serve the campus by contributing to the research and academic mission. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Design, implement, and maintain the automation infrastructure responsible for delivering gateway services to end-users.
Build and manage highly-available Kubernetes clusters running both on-premises and in AWS.
Inform and adhere to best-practices in testing, security, configuration management, and automation.
Develop and maintain test suites for infrastructure and deployed services, and promote a strong testing culture within the team at-large.
Investigate and respond to technical issues that arise with infrastructure and end-user services.
Work closely with software engineers to ensure timely delivery of end-user services.
Collaborate with immediate team and other departments to drive continuous improvement of services and processes.
What You Should Know
This is a limited-term appointment of 2 years. While it may be the case that we are able to extend this appointment beyond the 2 years, for the present it is only funded for a 2-year period.

Bachelor s Degree from an accredited institution in computer science, physical sciences or related fields with strong quantitative background in analysis, statistics, and programming. A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
2 years of experience with at least one of the following cloud providers: AWS/GCP/Azure.
At least 1 year of experience with each of the following:
What You Will Need
Ability to design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance.
Fluent knowledge of scripting and automation: Ruby/Python/Bash or similar.
Conversant in security best-practices.
What We Would Like You To Have
Masters Degree from an accredited institution in Library and Information Science or computer science.
Build and Deployment Management (Jenkins) in a CI/CD workflow.
Release Management Processes and Tools.
Familiarity with implementation of NIST security standards in a public cloud environment.
Application deployment using Helm.
IAAS, PAAS, SAAS product experience.
