Wardenburg Health Services on the University of Colorado Boulder campus welcomes applications for a Nurse I. The Nurse I provides comprehensive health care, including Sexual and Reproductive Health services, education and counseling primarily to the UCB student population. Care may be extended to UCB faculty, staff and UCB visitors on an urgent care basis. As an on-call employee, schedule will be variable depending on patient demand.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Provide care to all scheduled patients, walk-in patients as needed, phone calls, referrals from and to other providers and departments.
Provide patient care alongside Medical Clinic RNs in treatment room, including triage/urgent care, phone triage, physicals and immunization responsibilities.
Work with medical providers to devise and implement a treatment plan in accordance with medical guidelines and standards.
Involve communicating with and educating patients regarding their medical condition, follow-up care, and preventive measures.
Is familiar with the crash cart and its content and is prepared to administer BLS measures.
Assess patients' needs for medical care during the triage process, obtains appropriate vital signs and documents pertinent medical history in the Electronic Medical Record.
Initiate standing orders as necessary.
Cross train to other specialty clinics as staffing permits.
Educate/counsel patients on preventative health care, wellness, use of supplies and reinforces provider's instructions.
Assist with, or directs the scheduling of follow-up care or referrals, assists in the evaluation of outcomes of plan of care with patient.
Complete documentation in the electronic medical record including updating the patient summary screen, to include but not limited to assessing for allergies, updating patient s medication list, significant personal and family medical history, and learning barriers.
Responsible for charging for all procedures, treatments and medications given.
Document nursing interventions, phone calls and nursing assessments clearly in the EMR.
Confirm two patient identifiers prior to charting.
Routine and continuous duties
Maintain current knowledge of Wardenburg Policies, specifically those related to Medical Services and assists in revision of departmental policies.
Update personal education log record, attends nursing and department meetings as assigned.
Perform additional duties as assigned but not limited to, data collection and reporting QI monitors, assuring sufficient stock of supplies and medications along with checking for expired medication and supplies, and checking equipment for proper function and maintenance in Medical Services.
What You Should Know
This is a 1% on-call (PRN) position.
This position will most likely be scheduled for approximately 8 hours/week initially and will flex with patient demand.
This position comes with no guarantee of hours.
