On any given day, you will interact with top-tier medical device companies, as well as physicians and sales representatives from around the globe. Why this role is important at the Jacobs Institute? As a Research and Development Technician at the Jacobs Institute, you create product designs and experiences that genuinely impact people’s lives. You’ll be part of strengthening the medical device innovation backbone at the Jacobs Institute. Once you are here you might: Assemble prototypes of innovative devices. Develop tools and processes to enable prototype/device creation. Design and assemble equipment and test fixtures leveraging mechanical and electrical skill sets with engineering guidance. Produce small assembled parts according to procedures (both verbal and written). Run equipment such as an adhesive dispenser, vertical shrinker, braider, tipping machines, drilling, punching, and measuring devices to assemble catheters and parts. Perform testing to engineering specifications. Support engineer project leader with modifications in written procedures and suggested improvements in making product or sub-assemblies. Keep track of materials, tools, and procedures as the device are manufactured. Identify nonconforming product and support root cause investigation alongside engineering. Apply GMP and GDP principles to assembly, test records, and documentation. Train and mentor new technicians in assembly and test operations. Other Job Duties Interact with engineers, physicians, scientists, and researchers. Improve/support existing processes. Other tasks as assigned by management. Essential Qualifications: Associates degree in a technical field. Must perform well individually and in cross-functional, highly dynamic development teams. Ability to work in fast paced organization, meeting multiple deadlines and succeed under pressure is a must. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to write clear technical descriptions. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Proficient with solid modeling software. SolidWorks preferred. Motivated, resourceful, ambitious, and attentive to detail. Ability to work in a regulated environment in compliance with ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820.
