Deputy Executive DirectorThe Deputy Executive Director (DED) will oversee operations for The Common Good staff, programs, execution of its mission, and expansion. She or he will initially develop deep knowledge of strategy, core programs, operations, and business plans. ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Management:Lead, coach, develop, and retain The Common Good staff. Actively engage and energize The Common Good interns and volunteers, board members, and partnering organizations.Actively develop the growth and retention of members, donors, and funders.Set up and track systems to create efficient administration functions for office management, update or create training manuals and policies for staff and interns, track all expenses and revenues and keep the organization and its programs on budget.Regularly review the success, performance and efficacy and of programs, initiatives, and organization procedures with Board Chair to make needed adjustments. Help ensure ongoing programmatic excellence; consistency and reliability of administrative functions: support donor acquisition and retention and fundraising; help craft messaging and communications strategy and implementation; help develop timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.Execute and produce our 12-20 events around the calendar year, including our annual Awards event and the TCG Forum, initiatives, etc.; and interacting appropriately with high profile leaders who make up both our audience and our speakers. Fundraising & Communications:Expand revenue-generating and fundraising activities to support program operations and expand messaging and initiative goals and operations.Deepen and refine all aspects of communications-from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand and message.Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities. Planning & New Business:Help design the strategic business plan for growing membership and the donor base and new strategic programs.May begin to build partnerships in new markets, establishing relationships with the funders, and political and community leaders in New York, Washington, DC and Los Angeles.Be an external local and national presence that helps communicate program results. QualificationsSpecific requirements include:Bachelors or Masters required with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience.Knowledgeable about and demonstrated interest in politics, current events, public policy, international affairs.Strong communicator, both in written and spoken wordExperience in management and ability to coach and manage team, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget. Commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation. Some evenings will be required to oversee programs that take place after regular work hours.. Marketing, communications, or public relations experience a plus.Looking for action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative candidates.High degree of integrity is a must; Looking for someone with passion, a positive attitude, a highly relatable personality, mission-driven, and self-directed with a willingness to roll-up sleeves and be very hands-on.Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google - docs, spreadsheets, and presentations, social media platforms and strategies, and email programs like Constant Contact. knowledge of Quickbooks or the website platform Squarespace a big plus. Benefits: Salary: $50,000.00 to $65,000.00 /year depending on experience Direct deposit payPaid sick days, personal time off, holidays off, and vacation time that accrues at one year. This job is full-time in midtown UES location easily accessible to multiple subway and bus routes.
