Newmont Goldcorp is the result of an M&A that closed on April 18, 2019 which combined the two companies to create an unmatched portfolio of world-class operations, projects, exploration opportunities and Reserves in the gold mining industry. Day 1 (April 18) delivered integrated IT systems that allowed the combined organization to collaborate and operate safely, efficiently and effectively. Capabilities included shortcut phone dialing, Goldcorp email rewritten to Newmont.com domain, Global Address List synchronization, calendar synchronization, and Wi-Fi access for travelers.
The IT organization is focused on delivering End State capabilities that will fully integrate networks, infrastructure, and IT support models between the two companies. This next phase is termed Day 2 and is composed of the following Integration program elements:
Deploy Microsoft Azure cloud-based email, OneDrive, SharePoint, Active Directory, Identity/Access Management tools, and Office365 Applications. This entails migrating 20,000+ Newmont Goldcorp users to the Azure cloud.
Scope, design, plan, and implement a unified Network to support full integration of Newmont Goldcorp physical locations, data centers, and Systems/Applications.
Assess the current state IT support model and produce a strategy & roadmap to implement the End State IT support operating model.
Newmont Goldcorp is seeking a Network Project Manager to manage projects associated with implementing a unified Cisco network. Projects will consist of remediating IP address conflicts between Newmont and Goldcorp networks, integrating Unified Communications (Telephony, Video Conferencing, Instant Messaging tools, etc ) and conducting a holistic network assessment to scope, design, plan, and implement the end state network for Newmont Goldcorp.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Plan project work and manage small project teams to complete Newmont Goldcorp network integration goals
Manage drafting/submission of AFE process for network project funding; assist in writing the AFE
Coordinate network changes/outages with Corporate, Region, and Site IT stakeholders
Manage project issues and escalate as necessary for resolution
Perform risk assessment and manage risk mitigation as it relates to network projects
Where there are business change impacts associated with network projects, coordinate with OCM team to draft communications
Prepare weekly status reports based on Newmont Goldcorp status template
Ensure timely sign-off of project deliverables
Prepare lessons learned when closing down projects
Prepare close out of the project and review with IT stakeholders
Review team member time sheets and travel expense ensuring both are accurately being billed to the correct portion of the project
Occasional travel with possible international travel
Qualifications & Skills
A broad knowledge of unified communications, network, and telecommunications
Interpersonal and team building capabilities
Project planning and time management skills
Excellent verbal, written, analytical, and communication skills.
At least five years of relevant work experience managing Network or Infrastructure projects
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline
Desired to have Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Strong skills in the following MS products; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and Visio
