Job Description

SunCommon is seeking outgoing, mission-driven Solar Sales Representatives to join our inspired team dedicated to preserving the environment and making a healthier, safer world. This is an exciting opportunity to be a critical part of the reusable energy movement and take a consultative approach to educating customers on the growing role that solar is playing in our clean energy future.

As a Solar Sales Representative (also referred to as a Solar Project Advisor), you are the face of SunCommon and responsible for building and leveraging a network of self-generated leads, contacts, and opportunities to develop a robust portfolio of residential and commercial solar projects.

While you will be based out of our Rhinebeck, NY office, you will spend much of your day visiting with property owners, schools, non-profits, and government entities throughout the Hudson Valley, with the goal of inspiring them to do their part in making a safer and healthier environment.

*We are also seeking Solar Sales Representatives in Vermont (to be based out of our Waterbury, VT location).

What you ll do as the Solar Sales Representative:

  • Create steady pipeline of self-generated leads and see them through to signed contract
  • Close sales by gathering information and building a relationship to understand the customer s needs and fashioning options to meet them
  • Communicate the environmental and financial value of solar
  • Finalize deals and sign contracts
  • Conduct site visits at homes, businesses, schools, municipal boards, etc.
  • Determine customer s current and projected electrical usage and solar savings
  • Work with customers to complete credit packages and financing applications
  • Log all communications with customers in CRM contact database

What s required of you:

  • Ability to generate new leads and deals to build pipeline independently
  • Natural ability to CLOSE SALES
  • Previous experience in the solar industry is a plus, but not required
  • Sincere desire to help protect the environment and stay on the leading edge of the solar and renewable energies industry
  • Proficiency in using IT hardware (iPhone, MacBook, iPad) and software (MSOffice, CRM and file management).
  • Must have a valid driver s license and clean driving record
  • Maintain mobility to climb stairs, inspect attics, and traverse uneven topography
