As a Respiratory Therapist with us, you will beresponsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as orderedper physician, with emphasis in specialty areas (i.e., Emergency, Neonatal,Pediatric, Geriatric and Critical Care), monitoring mechanical ventilation,administering medications, patient assessment, understanding ramifications ofhemodynamic monitoring, understanding blood work results, monitoring, teaching,and training.

As a Respiratory Therapist you need to know how to:
Verify respiratory care physician s orders;deliver respiratory care procedures. Maintain accurate and completedocumentation of all respiratory care procedures per department policy andprocedures.
Receive and give accurate and complete report.Update and complete patient profile card to reflect patient's current clinicalstatus.
Demonstrate excellent working knowledge ofrespiratory care instruments and equipment. Perform troubleshooting withappropriate problem resolution.
Perform effective airway management to includebag/mask ventilation. Assist physician/intubation certified therapist withintubation. Demonstrate safe and appropriate suction techniques and use ofartificial airways.
Initiate, maintain, monitor and documentcontinuous mechanical ventilation.
Provide timely and accurate update informationto the physicians and other hospital personnel. Make recommendations forchanges or modification of patient therapy by contacting physicians.
Understand and institute advanced ventilatormodalities. Initiate, maintain and monitor ventilator patients. Interpret flowvolumes and pressure volume curves to initiate appropriate clinical changes.
Effectively discuss advanced respiratorypathophysiology with physicians, and implement changes based on patientcondition.
Perform arterial blood gas sampling.
Evaluate chest x-ray for endotracheal placementand other clinical conditions optimizing respiratory care delivery.

High School Diploma or equivalent, required
Graduation from an accredited School forRespiratory Care, required
Passing score on a National Board of RespiratoryCare examination as a respiratory therapist (RRT), required
Licensure by the State as a Respiratory CarePractitioner, required
Possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required
At least one (1) year of experience in a settingserving the same age/type of patient population served by this facility ordepartment, preferred
