The position is responsible for leading all phases of design and environmental work including strategy, planning, design, budget management, communication, vendor management, production and construction. Phases include design brief to completion/door opening by providing strong tracking and timing skills from a licensed architectural view point to be able to make structural decision making while multi-tasking multiple projects.
The candidate will work as the architectural link between global offices, Marketing, Sales, Visual Merchandising and Procurement teams to make sure market needs are met on-time and on budget while also following global sguidelines.
Participate in annual calendar development of all Department Store and Specialty Stores
Develop detailed new store opening milestone calendar
Track key milestones in store design development to ensure proper items are checked and triggered to ensure timely installation
Supervise vendors and procurement to ensure consistency over all formats of POS are consistent
Track budget for jobs and contribute to value engineering or elevation of a project as necessary
Communicate key artwork dates to Visual Merchandising to ensure fixtures arrive complete at installation
Partner with marketing and finance in development of annual budget
Serve as main point of contact to help identify and organize store design needs with global partners in Tokyo, Paris and New York
Adapt global concepts based on US strategy and market needs
Assist in the preparation and setup of Sales Conference and Strategy meetings
Visit stores as required to ensure Architectural Guidelines and quality are met
Regular store visits to monitor execution and elevate key markets
Attend all key meetings regarding product updates and strategic planning
Work with other creative team members to remain informed on latest brand strategies
Requirements and Qualifications
Architecture degree (with Interior Design a plus) with the ability to effectively convey ideas through 2D dwgs and 3D renderings
10+ years in luxury cosmetic retail
Experience with in-house store design preferably in the cosmetics or fashion field
Must be able to read and review fixture shop drawings
Working knowledge of basic cabinetry detailing to produce easily executable results
Strong schedule management skills with attention to detail while remaining optimistic and team spirited
Extensive multi-tasking and project management skills with the ability to work closely with cross functional teams
