The CNC Programmer will write the code to automate and optimize our power driven equipment which produces our parts. This is a hands-on operations support position requiring a strong technical background and project management skills to work effectively with other departments and individuals to meet company goals and objectives.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and manage CNC programs for production equipment

  • Maintain the library of programs and all backups for this system
  • Analyze the program backup system for weaknesses and implement systems to correct
  • Optimize machine runtime which includes: loading of parts to proper machine, cutting tool selection, cycle time reduction, optimizing programs and setup reduction
  • Support production with root cause problem solving for machining crashes, tooling problems, & machining process problems
  • Develop the machining process and setup for new production parts
  • Work with Engineering on cutting tool design
  • Work with Product Engineering on the development of pilot parts and processes
    Perform responsibilities in accordance with all company standards, policies and procedures
  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

  • Associates degree in CNC programming, a computer related field or mechanical field preferred
  • 3-5 years CNC/G-code Programming experience (VMC & Mill turns)
  • 3-5 years experience in Setup of CNC Machines
  • Ability to decipher detailed design drawings
  • Familiarity with cutting tool technology
  • Ability to grasp modern technology quickly
  • Fanuc control experience is a plus
  • Esprit and/or similar CAM software is a plus
  • Familiar with traditional quality measurement tools
  • Kaizen/Continuous improvement experience is a plus
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Physical Requirements:

  • The majority of time is spent in a climate controlled office environment so will remain seated for long periods of time while working on a computer or documentation, etc.

  • Mst have manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard, mouse and standard office equipment.

  • Must be capable of withstanding long period of viewing data on a computer screen and/or in paper format.

  • Normal, corrective vision range; ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.

  • Must be able to spend time with Operations activities to learn manufacturing process and observe equipment in action. Noise level increases in Operations areas.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, bend and reach.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to interact with a diversity of people and diverse levels of personnel.
