We have a position in the Product Engineering area within Ricoh Control Unit Development organization in Boulder Colorado. The Control Unit Development Team delivers high quality solutions comprised of Linux-based software running on multiple hardware platforms, in the control of Continuous Feed and Cutsheet Printers. The successful Product Engineer must be a confident Engineer who is comfortable working in a Linux environment, with strong troubleshooting skills to provide product engineering and field support for our printer products.
A product engineer will:
* Work with local account teams to resolve customer problems
* Report status on field issues
* Work with customers to understand their requirements and conditions of satisfaction
* Keep customers, field teams and management appraised of progress
* Review code traces and machine diagnostic logs
* Recreate problems, define problem resolution approaches
* Test fixes and temporary work-arounds
* Document steps and procedures
* Provide on-site technical assistance when necessary
* Establish and improve processes
* Support technical areas outside of job function as necessary
Required Skills:
* Strong debugging and analytical skills
* Working with Linux OS (Linux Kernel, Linux drivers, Shell, Network interfaces)
* Excellent technical writing, organization, communication and interpersonal skills
* Teaming, self-management and multitasking skills
* Strong customer focus (communicating with customers)
* Able to solve technical problems in a complex environment
* Have a positive, cooperative, can do and dedicated attitude
* Software testing skills
* Programming experience in C or C++
* Scripting skills and experience
* Ability and willingness to travel in the continental US and internationally up to 10%
Preferred Skills:
* Customer support experience
* Working with a global team
* Understanding of printing concepts and technologies
* Understanding of customer technical/business environments
Education / Certifications:
B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
