This person will play a significant leadership role on our highly driven team, allowing us to significantly advance our work across our range of issues and to have a lasting impact on the political conversation and outcomes across the state. The organizations we support are engaged on the front lines of some of the most important issues we're facing today, and particularly at such a pivotal time in our nation's history, we need strong leaders within our organization to make sure that we can continue to deliver top-quality services on as many of these issues as possible. About ProgressNow Colorado For more than a decade ProgressNow Colorado has been the leading progressive voice online and in the press in Colorado, acting as the public relations shop for the progressive movement and infrastructure in our state. We've supported the communications objectives of allied organizations as their needs have changed, and we've worked to ensure that Coloradans are educated about who represents them and where those individuals stand on issues impacting our families and communities. We specialize in rapid-response communications and storytelling work, and we've built a base of more than 95,000 supporters across the state, who not only engage with the content we develop online but turn out in person to fight for our shared values-in the capitol, at demonstrations, and at the ballot box. Our approach to traditional and digital media is comprehensive, including digital advertising and targeting, email, text messaging, digital content development, videography, message and spokesperson development, pitching and developing relationships with local, state, and national press, blogging, research, and news writing. Responsibilities Overall, your role will focus on adding capacity at the most senior level to our highly driven, talented and racially diverse team, and to continue to strengthen our systems and structures to continue to build on and strengthen that team into the future. The exact contours of the role will continue to evolve as our organization continues to grow, but as a starting point, we'll be leaning on you to drive four main areas: Staff management -Directly manage the teams in charge of Development, Operations, Abortion Rights Project, and HR functions, ensuring the team is on track to deliver on our goals and to our extraordinarily high quality standards; and being a resource to staff to ensure that they have what they need, both for specific projects and in their roles; and troubleshooting where needed Executive leadership -Be a thought partner to the Executive Director on key organizational and strategic decisions -Proactively spot areas where our systems and practices could be strengthened across the team, and devise, implement, and troubleshoot strategic solutions Organization-wide project management -Manage our system to track grant deliverables (currently Asana), driving the systems to make sure we're delivering and tracking progress, including by reviewing grant agreements and assigning out deliverables, and keeping an overall eye on team capacity and workflow -Drive our processes to hire new staff and ensure that all incoming staff have what they need to be successful, including, looking at our overall approach and processes to assess what works and what needs to improve, and including pulling in our Executive Director and other staff in wherever needed -Manage our staff meetings, making sure they are useful for everyone, and that we're using them to get what we need organizationally -Driving other organization-wide projects, including setting goals, tracking progress to goals, etc -Staff and organizational Calendar Management Operations and Human Resources -Financial Management - Ensure that we are running a tight ship, meeting all legal requirements, operating in a fiscally responsible way, and maintaining complete and accurate records and reporting -Human Resources - Ensure that our staff are fully supported with seamless access to their benefits and compensation, including by driving compliance with current policies and procedures, and by driving the process to troubleshoot and improve our current practices -Vendor Relations - Manage our relationships with all of our vendors to make sure we're getting the best possible services for the best value, and that we're delivering everything needed on our end to retain and strengthen relationships with our vendors -All of these will include a mix of you taking on significant pieces of the work directly, and managing an external consultant to deliver on other pieces Qualifications We are looking for a highly strategic thinker with experience successfully managing complex teams, and the ability to both identify big-picture solutions and work hands-on with details to drive their execution.
