Associate Roadway Design Engineer

We are looking for a Road/Highway Design engineer to perform a variety of engineering tasks by applying standard engineering techniques and analyses within the civil engineering discipline. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer, early in their career, with 1 to 3 years of experience, to join an established team to work on both conventional designs and design/build projects! Our design engineers design horizontal and vertical geometry for highway and road projects, and will analyze cross sections, calculate super-elevations, grading vertical alignments and horizontal impacts for roads and highways in the Northeast. We have projects in NY, and NJ, as well as design build projects in other states for you to work on!



Additional responsibilities:



Must be able to utilize specifications to complete proposed designs, and able to collaborate with other engineers and clients to finalize and complete highway and road designs.



Perform vertical clearance calculations, grading and permit/plan preparation, as well as use existing horizontal alignments to design new roadway alignments. May perform material quantity takeoffs, estimates and surveys.



Reviews contractor supplied drawing submittals and assists in performing technical bid analyses.



Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.



Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.



**PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:**



Minimum of 4-year Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field). Master's degree is desirable.



Prefer 1-3 years road/highway design experience.



Experience designing highways, roads, intersections, calculating vertical clearances and drafting in CAD (either AutoCAD or MicroStation) is preferred.



**Experience working with local agencies in NY/NJ like NYCDDC, NYCDEP, NYSDOT, NYCDOT OR PA NY/NJ is preferred.**



**Design Build experience is preferred.**



Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate preferred
