Position Summary

This position will be a part of the Cyber NYC Applied Learning Initiative, a collaborative endeavor between the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), and several academic and industry entities charged with the mission of establishing New York City as a global leader in cybersecurity education, training, and talent.? Cyber NYC is a $100 million suite of public-private investments to establish New York City as a global leader in cybersecurity and catalyze jobs. The initiative will strategically grow NYC?s cybersecurity diverse talent pipeline and workforce, help companies thrive, and build networks and community spaces.


Reporting to the Vice Dean for Student and Academic Affairs, the Senior Director for Online Learning is tasked with growing and overseeing Tandon?s lifelong learning initiative. This leadership position will be responsible for launching and scaling the EDC funded stackable credentials program, strategically planning for future implementation across all of Tandon?s programs, growing business partnerships and developing and delivering curriculum across Tandon?s Cyber Fellows MS program and the joint degree program with the NYU School of Law. The Senior Director will serve as the Programs? most publicly visible executive and will be in charge of staff and operations. Responsible for achieving revenue and program outcome targets. He/she will be accountable for the strategic and day to day operation, provide leadership on research direction, corporate innovation programs, education programs, and entrepreneurship and prototype programs. The role also has a strong external-facing function and is accountable for realizing the full potential of business development opportunities including industry partnerships, project-based services, and ongoing expansion of the business and funding model. The Senior Director will work closely with staff to shape programs and services to meet stakeholder and market needs.


Required Education:Bachelor's Degree Engineering, cyber security or related fieldPreferred Education:Master's Degree or PHD preferredRequired Experience:10+ years proven track record of management experience, including day-to-day operations and supervisory responsibility, in a nonprofit or a company; preferably some startup experience. Successful track record of operating successful organizations, including generating new business leads, fundraising, and resource development. Strong background in the private sector and possess an authoritative understanding of cyber-security and develop a clear understanding of existing cyber security (MS) graduate programs in order to orchestrate programs through which our students develop workforce-ready computational and analytical skills and mindsets.Preferred Experience:15+ years Cyber Security, Information Risk Management, Information Security, IT Governance / Risk, Program and Project Management, Client Services, Business IntegrationRequired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:? Familiarity with applied research, technology commercialization, business models, entrepreneurship and early stage venture formation. ? Strong prospecting and closing skills, skilled at selling to customer needs. Established contacts from within and across the media, technology and nonprofit sectors. ? Demonstrated leadership and social savvy, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. ? Goal-oriented with disciplined time management skills.
