The assistant director for service and leadership is responsible for programs and initiatives within the Center for Student Life that support and advance NYU's commitment to service, outreach, civic engagement, service learning, and leadership development. Manages the area budget, conducts program evaluation and student assessment, and represents service to internal and external constituents. Works collaboratively with the Office of Risk Management to evaluate contracts and coordinate travel. The incumbent serves as the primary point of contact within the Division of Student Affairs for service and leadership related topics. Like all members in the Center for Student Life, the incumbent participates in Center for Student Life events, and undertakes special projects to be assigned at the discretion of the center leadership team.
Required Education:Bachelor's Degree in a related area. Preferred Education:Master's Degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education, Public Administration, Public Health, Nonprofit Management, or related field. Required Experience:3+ years of experience working with university or college students in civic engagement/community service area/student activities. Experience working for or with non-profit institutions in New York City or a similar urban setting. Experience with global service. International travel experience including study abroad or Alternative Breaks. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Superior organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently, in a fast pace environment, ability to self-start and take initiative. Exhibits high forms of professionalism, independent judgement, diplomacy, maturity, meticulous attention to detail. Vision: taking an idea and bringing to fruition. Manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously. Ability to supervise staff and students. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Knowledge and experience with OrgSync.
