New Jersey Resources is seeking a Sr. Counsel to provide legal services to the New Jersey Resources (NJR) Service Corporation.
Major Responsibilities:
* Support all aspects of the corporation's midstream business by working with business units engaged in acquisition, development and operation of midstream assets to draft and negotiate precedent agreements, service agreements, engineering, procurement, and construction contracts, and managing local, state and federal regulatory approvals
* Support all aspects of the corporation's renewable energy business by working with business units engaged in residential and commercial renewable energy project development and operations to draft and negotiate power purchase agreements, engineering procurement and construction contracts, interconnection agreements, warranties, operations and maintenance agreements and other related contracts and manage local, state and federal regulatory approvals
* Work with corporation's wholesale trading business units to draft and negotiate various physical and financial wholesale energy trading contracts for the purchase and sale of electricity, including tolling arrangements, heat-rate call options, spark-spread agreements, swaps and supporting credit documents
* Provide Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) legal advice to the corporation, including training of employees
* Prepare FERC regulatory compliance and other filings for midstream business and wholesale trading business units and work with and oversee outside counsel on matters before FERC
* Complete other projects as assigned by the Assistant General Counsel or the
Senior Vice President and General Counsel
Position Specifications:
* Juris Doctor degree with a license to practice law in New Jersey and federal courts and before FERC is required
* Minimum of seven or more years of experience in FERC and CFTC gas and electric regulatory practice, project development (including real property matters) and general contracts
* Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word required
* Strong interpersonal skills a must
