SQL Server Database Administrator
Location:: Secaucus, NJ
The SQL Database Administrator is responsible for the ongoing infrastructure automation and support of Microsoft SQL databases, T-SQL, ETL, Relation Schemas, Stored Procedure and related functionality, providing the highest possible performance, availability, and security.
As a Sr. DBA, your primary role will be architecting and operating the databases that play a vital role in the support of critical platforms and services. You should have prior experience in various database technologies running on different platforms, operations, design and architecture, administration (monitoring and proactive maintenance, tuning and backup and recovery).
The ideal candidate will have a passion for database engines and developing a deep subject matter expertise in database internals and systems integration. The DBA must possess strong ownership qualities and be service oriented
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform analysis and design for the processes and procedures used for managing large or complex database environments to ensure their availability, integrity, security and recoverability
Monitor and tune of database environments to ensure optimum performance and maximize available resources
Provide technical expertise to application development teams and interface with the industry vendors for technical support as needed
Assist with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects
Perform database design reviews and evaluations to ensure that the group standards and best practices are being adhered to and the resulting physical databases meet project needs
Collaborate with the application developers, administrators and project team on physical database design and implementations
Provide assistance with the investigations and resolution of complex technical issues and/or problems related to the support and use of database software and environments
Assist in ad hoc projects, assignments and responsibilities as necessary
Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business s Recovery Point Objective
Troubleshoot SQL server service outage as they occur. Including after-hours and weekends
Experience with T-SQL and other scripting experience to ensure that database code meets company standards for readability, reliability and performance
Find the most resource-intensive queries on the server and suggest ways to improve performance on the each
Help developers improve the performance of that query by tweaking it or modifying indexes
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Experience with MSSQL 2008 through 2016 database administration
Strong troubleshooting MSSQL databases performance issues
Database design and implementation
Experience in large-scale environments
Must have strong SQL development skills
Must have performance tuning on SQL server tables, queries and indexing
Database replication experience (log shipping/DB mirroring) on SQL 2014 and up
SQL cluster implementation, configuration and administration is a plus
Experience with capacity planning, workload modeling, and prediction to ensure business applications have sufficient resources for near-term performance and long-term growth.
Analyzes existing programs, formulates requirements for new systems, performs coding and tests/debugs programs
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
10+ years of experience managing databases on a fast pace environment
