Social Media Specialist PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for developing and overseeing execution of NFCRC's strategic social media and digital initiatives, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other emerging technologies. Develop and manage viral marketing campaigns including collaborative management of the Center's website and email campaigns. Create and supervise high-profile channel accounts and integrate interactive media into the overall NFCRC strategy. Search engine optimization/search engine marketing (SEO/SEM) integration, monitoring and analysis of social media trend and their impacts on the NFCRC brand. Experience and Qualifications Bachelors degree in communications, marketing or a related field and two years experience in marketing/public relations experience (including demonstrable social networking experience). Previous experience in development and implementation of media planning and buying strategies within the advocacy industry. Excellent analytic, writing, and online marketing skills. Assist stakeholders and help develop capacity to carry forth strategic alliance building efforts with social welfare non-profits, businesses, faith-based groups, labor, and other key allies. Participate in interdisciplinary planning to achieve policy goals. Travel to assist and support policy advocacy. Monitor federal and state policy activity including legislation that is relevant to the mission and vision of NFCRC. Draft policy analyses designed to effect change by state and federal policymakers. Speak publicly at state and local forums, conferences and meetings. Experience and Qualifications Internship: Bachelor s degree plus a minimum of two years experience in developing and coordinating successful legislative, political, or organizing campaigns. Preference will be given to candidates with higher levels of experience. Senior Position: Advanced degree plus five years of relevant experience demonstrating advancement. The CDO will lead philanthropy staff and will be expected to increase the number of major donors through major gifts and planned giving and ensure ongoing and increased support from foundations and corporate leaders who share NFCRC s goals. The CDO will be expected to provide a vision for creating a philanthropic culture throughout the Center and the Board in order to achieve a continuing increase in fundraising results. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The CDO will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Development Office, including individual philanthropy (major and planned gifts, direct mail appeals, Internet outreach), foundation and corporate giving, special events, and Board relations. She/he will oversee a growing staff and be expected to lead by example. The CDO will be expected to cultivate his/her own major accounts as well as provide creative vision, mentoring, and training for the rest of the team. In addition, the CDO will be responsible for relationships with the firm s philanthropy consultants. In particular, the CDO will: Inspire and engage a group of elite donors and volunteer leaders interested in promoting and protecting family civil rights; Supervise NDCRC s efforts to maintain and build upon its base of private foundation support and work with staff to develop new strategies and tailored cases for support to enhance the organization s relationships with the foundation community; Create new strategies to enhance the Center s relationships with business leaders; Oversee implementation and follow-through of all fund raising events and ensure that events are strategically positioned to improve donor relationships effectively and efficiently; Work with the Executive Team to maintain appropriate gift accounting and acknowledgment, computer system operations, gifts and grants record management, planned gift distributions, donor stewardship, and integration with NFCRC s data systems; Open communication on all levels of the organization by keeping donors and the public informed, thanked, and involved; designing and managing effective Board and staff communications; and ensuring increased giving opportunities; Supervise all development activities, including hiring, defining job responsibilities, establishing expectations, and giving regular performance feedback and coaching/mentoring for personal and professional development of staff in their roles; As needed, recruit and train a high-quality paid and voluntary staff that is well prepared to meet the ongoing challenges of a fast-moving organization; Foster an environment that rewards new ideas and risk-taking, builds confidence, encourages teamwork, promotes a focus on success, celebrates current achievements, and sets clear expectations for the future; Help plan and carefully manage the development/philanthropy budget, ensuring resources are allocated accurately, efficiently, and effectively to ensure adequate support for NFCRC s mission; Work collaboratively and in coordination with other department directors; and Conduct effective interdepartmental communications and provide regular summaries of all philanthropic activities to NFCRC s Board of Directors and executive management. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor s degree required; advanced degree strongly preferred. 10 or more years of experience formulating and executing successful, comprehensive fundraising programs; Significant experience successfully managing fundraising professionals within a tightly disciplined process; Evidence of using persuasive communication, passion, and expertise to inspire volunteers, staff, Board, and elite donors to the causes of the Center; Proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts and to lead others in doing so; Strong leadership and management skills, both strategic and operational, and a demonstrated ability to build, manage, mentor, and motivate an effective team; Thoughtful, creative, and innovative problem-solving skills; Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; Competency in planning and execution of projects and plans; A strong commitment to liberty and passion for the Center s work; An engaging and outgoing personality which naturally draws others to the person; A dynamic presence, with the intellectual ability to command the respect and attention of NFCRC s staff; A collaborative and collegial style; A strategic thinker who is able to move concepts or theories into practice for the betterment of the organization; and A strong work ethic and a willingness to travel, as needed.
