The Small Meetings and Events Manager is responsible for supporting Morgan Stanley objectives by contributing to the design, development and execution of a variety of corporate events impacting more than 67,000 internal and external attendees annually.Candidates will bring experience in corporate event planning in addition to a knowledge of Corporate Travel Operations and Strategic Sourcing/Procurement for Travel and Meetings and Events.The SME Manager will primarily develop the global strategy and execute the delivery of the Small Meetings and Events internal and external Program (3,000 events annually). The position will require heavy engagement with firm stakeholders, such as Employee Guest Services, Marketing, Legal, Finance, Sourcing and internal business units. This role will be responsible overseeing and executing sourcing, RFP's, negotiations, site inspections, contracting, program communications, transportation, VIP requirements, registration, audio/visual production, product/brand provisioning, and post event evaluation process.Responsibilities include:* Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders and clients to ensure Small Meetings & Events value proposition and service delivery is aligned to support the strategic priorities and goals of Corporate Services and the Firm* Change champion, solution expert and innovation leader that will leverage skillset to lead impactful departmental initiatives from concept development, implementation and integration* Work alongside event host to establish event goals and budget: gather and track ROI, engagement analytics, and feedback to consistently assess and implement opportunities for improvement* Lead creation of event communications and promotion for Small Meetings and Events services* Develop and deliver event enablement to include pre-event briefings, at-event briefings, and drive post-event follow-up briefings and event retrospectives (this includes conducting surveys to develop internal employee feedback and measure program improvements, event recap processes)* Ensure events arranged are consistent with the Firm's positioning and corporate objectives, working with event hosts and event coordinator services on strategic planning to achieve this* Conduct venue searches (and site visits) and feasibility studies to ensure event offerings and partners are up to the highest standards and offering* Benchmark like companies for program development* Evangelize program globally, conducting educational seminars to educate employees and key stakeholders on SME strategy, cost savings, Policy and compliance directives* Ensure all assigned event elements are executed, which may include managing transportation, logistics, food and beverage functions, hotel registration, hospitality, customer service* Maintain supplier relationships in support of small meetings and events. Negotiate vendor agreements including hotel contracts, dcor providers, ground transportation, merchandise suppliers and other vendors.* Produce \"Best in Class\" events with constant evaluation and results orientation to drive improvement* Demonstrate ability to update, maintain and analyze planning tools/software and procedures* Perform ongoing research on strengths and opportunity areas, as well as those of industry competitors* Minimum 5-10 years' experience in meeting leadership/strategic events/corporate travel/sourcing or procurement in a corporate or professional services environment* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, CMP, CMM or MBA is preferred* Ability to work independently* Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point* Negotiation, contract management and risk mitigation experience* Project Management/Leadership experience and decision-making skills* Ability to work smart under pressure and efficiently on multiple project requests simultaneously, and to deal with tight deadlines and unexpected complexities; this includes demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of event planning, including the ability to multitask while working on several events at the same time* Strong communicator and collaborator with the ability to work with a variety of teams and personalities, possessing excellent verbal and written communications skills.* Sourcing event experience, including conferences, and seminars* Proven skills interacting with executive/senior management teams* Very detail-oriented including strong research and organizational skills* The ability to build strong working relationships and to be able to persuade and influence a range of people, including partnersSkills Desired: Extensive knowledge of Cvent and Customer Relationship Management tool is preferred * The salary listed in the header is an estimate based on salary data for similar jobs in the same area.
