Michels Corporation has an opportunity for a full time Environmental Manager based out of Queens, NY. This position is responsible for the ongoing environmental management and oversight of a project(s) being constructed for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). This position is responsible for working with management staff to ensure operations are being conducted in accordance with project specifications and all federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Critical for success is the ability to maintain organization and provide direction and leadership.The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to:* Prepare, submit and revise various environmental plans related to management of hazardous and not-hazardous wastes, fuel and chemical storage, spill prevention, chemical handling, dust control, and emissions.* Inspect, monitor and document conditions and compliance with project specifications and federal, state and local regulations.* Familiar with soil and groundwater sample procedures and waste classifications.* Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.* Maintain open communication with project management by providing guidance and advice and assisting in the operational execution of environmental needs on the project.* Update HSE Director on Environmental or designee on a regular basis related project conformance to health, safety and environmental expectations.Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor of science degree in environmental science or natural resources program, engineering or similar specialty and 10+ years of Environmental or similar experience. Candidates must have knowledge of Federal, State, and NYC regulations and also have experience in managing NYS Superfund Sites. Valid driver's license and current 40 hour HAZWOPER Certification are also required.
