Job Description

The role of a graduate assistant within the chemical engineering department is to support the faculty members and staff of the department with the objective of providing quality undergraduate and graduate education. Graduate assistants receive partial to full tuition scholarship for graduate course work and in some cases also receive a monthly stipend. In return for the scholarship and stipend, graduate assistants are required to work up to 20 hours per week. The duties and responsibilities of the Graduate Assistants include: i) set-up, performance, break-down, and clean-up of all laboratory experiments conducted within the teaching labs of the Department, ii) assistance with all the Department s activities including Engineering Awareness Day and Accepted Students Days, iii) maintaining inventory of all chemicals and equipment in their assigned labs, iv) maintenance of specific laboratory equipment with the assistance of the Technical Support personnel when needed, v) ordering of chemicals and supplies for the lab, vi) assisting department faculty by answering student questions on homework assignments, and vii) miscellaneous duties as assigned.
