More information is available at www.themadisonsquaregardencompany.comRole SummaryThe Vice President of Safety is responsible for all safety and loss control functions of the Madison Square Garden properties including Madison Square Garden Arena, Radio City Music Hall, The Beacon Theater, The Chicago Theater, & LA Forum. The Vice President is responsible for the development and implementation of fire protection and injury reduction programs, facility inspections, hazardous material management, emergency preparedness and evacuation plans in order to ensure the safety of all of MSG's customers, employees, clients, and vendors. The position also has significant responsibilities managing workers compensation, and general liability. The Vice President is responsible for understanding and implementing any and all city, state, federal safety and environmental requirements applicable to the facilities.Specific Functions/Activities Summary* Develop, document, manage and maintain formal safety policies, programs and procedures.* Negotiate contracts with third party providers for services relating to emergency preparedness, training, program development, testing, etc.* Develop, document, manage and maintain training programs in all facilities. Programs include PPE (personal protective equipment), \"Right to Know\", \"Lock Out Tag Out\", Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Hazards, Forklift Safety, Bloodborne Pathogens, Fire Safety, Evacuation, Rigging, etc.* Develop, document, monitor and manage Emergency Evacuation programs, Emergency Communication Systems, and Incident Command programs.* Manage all regulatory filings, individual facility and personal licenses, certificates of fitness, inspections, etc.* Develop, plan, and implement operating budgets to achieve all goals.* Responsible for preparing quarterly budget forecasts and making all necessary adjustments in order to achieve goals with a focus on maintaining budget.* Perform facility inspections, follow-up on corrective action, provide recommendations and audit field safety activities.* Supervises all accident investigations and follows up with corrective action. Prepare reports for senior management and present for review.* Monitors and manages Workers Compensation, General Liability, and Auto Claims. Main point of contact for corporate insurance carriers. Prepare quarterly reports and present to senior management.* Monitors health and safety violations issued by various government agencies. Works with Facility Managers to correct violations.* Assist all venue managers to ensure that OSHA work rules, codes, and policies are maintained. Direct all communication with federal safety and environmental agencies.* Develop all collateral material, documents, reports, manuals, etc. as necessary.* Oversee specific ergonomic workstation modifications* Directs all industrial hygiene actions to ensure safe indoor air quality standards.* Conduct due diligence on all MSG potential transactions from a safety and environmental perspective.Qualifications* The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 years' progressive experience in venue or facilities management in entertainment, hospitality, public works, or another complex institution with direct responsibility for supervising and directing all safety programs across multiple operating functions in a changing environment. A prior role in a Risk Management capacity is preferred.* 4-year college degree preferably in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science and/or Engineering.* Experience managing multiple venue programs focused on maintaining OSHA work rules, codes, and policies.* Current responsibility communicating with federal safety and environmental agencies. Experience with city and state agencies.* Technical knowledge of federal, state and local fire, environmental, safety and health codes are essential.* Possess or ability to obtain certifications as Fire Safety Director, Certificates of Fitness as required (i.e. Fire Alarm System, Sprinkler Standpipe, etc.), and Arena and Theatrical Rigging Certification. Other certification as required by Federal, State and Local laws.* Experience managing in a union environment is preferred.* Knowledge of local public assembly, fire codes and Department of Health (DOH) requirements is required.* Ability to engage and develop collaborative relationships and influence within team and across functions, even without direct reporting relationship.* Ability to manage cross functional teams and building relationships is essential.* Adept at maintaining a positive, open, approachable, and professional relationship with a diverse group.* Ability to demonstrate success in managing multiple tasks while under tight deadlines.* Excellent communication skills, ability to mobilize key stakeholders, and engage with all levels in the organization.* Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring and developing staff to perform at high levels* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.* Must be willing to travel to other locations as needed.EducationCandidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
