Employment Status: FT. SUMMARY:. To assist the CEO of Lafayette General Medical Center with the daily operation of the organization through the management of the organization's financial resources. Responsible for the function and operation of LGMC financial services and revenue cycle including Patient Access, Health Information Management, Patient Accounts, and Case Management through direct leadership and/or coordination with Lafayette General Health System services.. To assist the SVP/CFO of Lafayette General Health System through the operation and management of the System's financial services area including the functions of accounting, payroll, accounts payable, treasury management, budgeting, and long-term financial plan development.. Plans, coordinates, and manages by:. a. Participating in the Strategic and Long Range Planning process for the organization.. b. Participating in the formulation of Strategic Business Objectives and organizational objectives to coincide with the Board approved Long Range Plan.. c. Managing departments on the basis of the organization's policies, budgets and standards in a consistent manner.. d. Insuring that department services respond to the need of internal and external customers.. e. Maintaining compliance with JCAHO standards.. f. Current knowledge of all certification and licensure requirements concerning legal statues, medical standards, and applicable codes.. g. Responding to inquiries and/or requests from employees, management, and medical staff.. h. Communicating clearly on matters affecting the organization.. i. Preparing and monitoring special projects to insure timely completions.. j. Representing the organization as required in dealing with outside entities such as attorneys, auditors, consultants, and community leaders.. k. Representing the organization at assigned Medical Staff Committees and Board of Trustee meetings.. l. Initiating, researching and recommending new as well as revised system services.. Directs the activities of assigned department directors by:. a. Keeping them abreast of organizational-wide matters.. b. Insuring that policies are carried out in a consistent manner.. c. Developing statistical indicators (with definitions) reflecting activity and productivity.. d. Addressing requests and/or questions in a timely manner.. e. Developing capital expenditure, operating budget and personnel budgets.. g. Motivating and encouraging personal initiative.. h. Providing guidance and periodic performance evaluations.. i. Maintaining and adhering to current policy and procedure manuals.. j. Insuring that department services properly support the needs of our customers.. k. Insuring that the organization's safety and environmental programs are supported.. l. Insuring that department work environments are such as to minimize Workman's Compensation claims.. m. Encouraging personal and professional development through in-service and continuing education.. Staff Functions:. a. Assist with financial institution relations.. b. Assist with development of long-term and short-term financing plans.. c. Long-term and short-term forecasting and budgeting.. d. Consolidated financial reporting.. e. Bond continuing disclosure reporting and compliance.. f. Oversee System cost accounting and decision support functions.. g. Assist in development of System financial planning with the long-range priorities set forth by the Board of Trustees.. h. Establish guidelines for the most effective use of physical and financial resources.. i. Interpret, analyze and communicate financial and statistical data to organization management as well as to Board of Trustees and Committees as assigned.. EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:. a. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting.. b. Certification by the State Board of Certified Public Accountants, Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, or Master's degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration.. c. At least ten (10) years previous healthcare or related management experience.. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:. Sedentary Work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor constitutes a maximum lift of 10 pounds on occasion and/or a maximum lift of 11-25 pounds on a frequent basis. Work environment is indoors..
