The Trend Director will report to the Women's Vice President of Design, Trend, Concept and research and report on key fashion trends. The Trend Director will direct the process of driving trend into assortments and interpret fashion trends into JCPenney needs.
* Research seasonal trend including: color, fabric, print and pattern, silhouette, and key looks. * Works on production for seasonal trend presentation. * Stays current on fashion trends through competitive shopping, fashion services, industry contracts, blogs, street style, etc. * Identifies trend and presents to VP and Chief Merchant. * Travels domestically and internationally to find inspiration and translates information on a timely basis to present to the team.
* Analyze merchandise mix and works with selected suppliers and Divisional Merchandising Managers to develop new business opportunities and capitalize on existing business regarding enhancements to categories of merchandise * Participate in review of sales and profit results and recommends programs or improvements to programs that support merchandise strategies * Execute appropriate interpretation and consistency within the assigned division of merchandise plans and programs * Ensure that the collection meets the fashion and quality requirements consistent with the brand profile
Core Competencies & Accomplishments:
* 4-year College degree, or equivalent work experience in design/trend required * Prior experience in Women's casual trend or design required. * 10-15 years' experience in trend and/or design. * Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Keynote, and Adobe Creative Suite (specifically lnDesign). * Strong oral and written communication skills. * Collaborative nature with the ability to work cross-functionally. * Proven ability to partner with design, merchandising and trend teams of scale * High level of taste, trend awareness * Solid leadership skills; motivates/inspires others with passion and ease
