Background/IRC Summary:IRC's Global Partnerships & Philanthropy department is responsible for the global delivery of the International Rescue Committee's financial resources, and plays an important strategic role in the creation of its brand, awareness and support for its advocacy goals. The IRC's strategy centers on its ambition to continue to improve the scale and effectiveness of IRC programs worldwide with evidence of what works best to impact people's lives in conflict and fragile settings.Positioned within the Development Department, which is responsible for all of the IRC's high net-worth relationships, the Institutional Philanthropy & Partnerships (IPP) team has a goal of maximizing private institutional support for the IRC. The IPP team identifies, researches, cultivates, and stewards multi-faceted partnerships with professional foundations, family foundations, and companies through: corporate foundations, corporate social responsibility (CSR), cause-marketing, sponsorship, material support, and employee engagement. IPP also works closely with all IRC departments to coordinate in furthering these relationships and maximizing the impact of private institutions' support.Job Overview/Summary:The Associate Director works closely with the Director of IPP to create and implement a number of support strategies that maximize private institutional engagement with, and support for, the IRC. The Associate Director oversees a team within IPP focused on public-facing corporate partnerships, ensuring that these partnerships are best-in-class, and helps the team to leverage these relationships and opportunities to evidence excellent, innovative, and high-yield approaches to NGO-private sector collaboration. The Associate Director also leads best-practice thinking and solutions for the entire IPP team towards conceiving, crafting and executing multi-faceted partnerships between the IRC and a range of corporate and brand clients, with a focus on partnerships that incorporate elements of cause marketing and/or externally facing engagement. The Associate Director is responsible for managing two IPP Officers (portfolio managers), guiding their business development and client management strategies, ensuring that they contributes towards ambitious financial and other defined objectives and goals.Major Responsibilities:* Refine and manage the IPP team's client management capabilities and processes, ensuring that the team is optimized for managing complex partnerships, particularly those with cause marketing elements and opportunities;* Provide dynamic and effective practical support and thought leadership for all IPP's Officers (client managers) in identifying, executing and managing strategies for private sector partnerships that contribute to IPP's revenue targets and that are delivered through a varied portfolio of partnership models, including philanthropy, CSR, marketing and cause-linked partnerships, as well as relationships based in the convergence of business and humanitarian interests and objectives;* Work with all IPP Officers, Associate Directors, as well as the Director of IPP, to develop and prioritize a series of gold-standard partnerships that evidence innovative partnership approaches, and that support impactful delivery of the IRC's mandate and mission;* Work with the Director of IPP to establish funding goals and benchmarks for a limited but high-profile portfolio of corporate partners spanning the media, publishing, and entertainment sectors;* Line manage two IPP Officers with responsibility for a specific portfolio of clients, including oversight of their business development and client management strategies, on-going performance monitoring, formal performance appraisals and professional development plans;* Work with line-managed Officers to plan and prioritize solicitation and cultivation activities towards maximizing the financial year and multi-year value of their portfolios and specific clients;* Provide comprehensive reporting to the Director of IPP on a number of metrics relating to financial and other targets specific to portfolios of their managed Officers;* Support the involvement of the Director of IPP, VP of Development, and other IRC staff (including the CEO & President), in high-level institutional partnership solicitations and relationship management with briefing materials, agendas, background research and appropriate follow-up;* Support the involvement of the IRC's Board members and Overseers in cultivation and solicitation of prospects and relevant contribution to donor care;* Monitor and analyze corporate partnership trends so that market opportunities may be capitalized on, ensuring that the IRC's funding proposition remains compelling and competitive;* Liaise with IRC program team members to manage the flow of communication between the IRC's program areas and the IPP team, ensuring efficient alignment of donor market opportunities with program development opportunities and delivery strengths;Key Working Relationships:Position Reports to: Director, Institutional Philanthropy & PartnershipsPosition Directly Supervises: 2x OfficerJob Requirements:* Bachelor's Degree Master's Degree preferred;* Minimum 7 years progressive experience in non-profit/private sector partnership setting, including significant new business and client management experience;* A well-developed knowledge of private sector (foundation and corporate) approaches to NGO/humanitarian partnerships, with a demonstrable understanding of the particular issues affecting the field;* Experience of working to, and meeting, ambitious revenue goals and other performance indicators, as well as participating in financial projections, reporting, and scenario planning;* Demonstrated ability to maintain positive, collaborative, productive relationships with staff at all levels;* Superior written and oral communication and presentation skills, to include: experience speaking to and writing for donors and program staff about program design and implementation in a manner that indicates deep understanding and grasp of nuance; crafting compelling funding proposals and pitch materials;* Sound judgment in maintaining confidentiality of donor information;* Ability to translate an organization's strategy and objectives into operational delivery and, at times, respond quickly to changes in short-term priorities;* Understanding of the necessary support processes required to deliver effective private sector relationships;* Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to devise creative solutions to complex problems and issues.* Experience of working with quantitative and qualitative data sets, with ability to summarize and communicate key points and assumptions from the information;* Knowledge of Salesforce;* Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office;* Passion for the IRC's mission and commitment to private sector partnerships;* Knowledge and interest in emerging concepts and practices in the field of strategic philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, and Public Private Partnerships.IRC leading the way from harm to home.IRC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
