Title :?Principal Sales Systems Engineer

The Principal Sales, Systems Engineer,?Responsible for actively leading and driving and managing the technology proposition and evaluation stage of the sales systems engineering team. Working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate for the Infinera product portfolio. The ideal candidate must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business commercial and technical customers. Must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle maintaining senior level relationships.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Responsible for development and delivery of technical product presentations / demonstrations;

  • Managing and interpreting customer requirements - speaking with customers to understand, anticipate and meet their needs;

  • Articulating to customers that a product or design solution best satisfies their requirements in terms of reliability, scalability, price and delivery;

  • Supporting marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events;

  • Able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs

  • Able to convey customer feature requirements to corporate Product Line Management teams;

  • Responsible for directing and managing technical demonstrations and lab trials

  • Able to travel throughout the sales region.

  • Develop and grow long-term relationships with customers;

  • Producing customer orderable quotations;

  • Provide after-sales support services;

  • Liaising with other members of the sales team and other technical experts;

  • Providing training and producing support material for other members of the sales team.

    Personality: ?You will be self-driven leader with a positive outlook and comfortable in dealing with senior company executives. You will be reliable and determined with excellent communication skills able to see things from another person's perspective. Well-presented and businesslike and sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel?as needed?within the region.

    Specific Job Skills:

  • Systems Engineering experience with a strong knowledge of telecommunications especially WDM, OTN, MPLS-TP/Carrier Ethernet transmission systems desired.

  • Must have? US Federal Government technical sales experience.

  • Exceptional presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Possess a strong ability to turn concepts through the design cycle including solution development

  • An articulate communicator, with excellent writing and social skills and an analytical approach to provide appropriate solutions to whichever tasks are presented.


  • Computer skills: ?Must be adept in use of Office 365, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.


    Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven record of accomplishment in system engineering and possess a strong knowledge of Transport technologies including: WDM, OTN, MPLS-TP/Carrier Ethernet and SDN/Orchestration. The candidate must also be comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a strong technical sales organization with a rapidly expanding customer base. Must possess strong presentation skills and can communicate professionally in written responses to emails, RFPs and when submitting reports. Must also be organized, analytical and able to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.

  • 10+ years relevant leadership experience in vendor sales engineering

  • Experience and familiarity of Infinera products desirable

  • Systems Engineering expertise with the US Federal Government or Tier 1 Carriers
