Job Summary Responsible for direction and supervision of a large professional or technical group. Coordinates project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities to meet their needs. Responsible for technical coaching and mentoring and efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high-quality service. Essential Responsibility Actively manages assigned project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget and quality management) and performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications and plan preparation. Implements and executes the firm's Sophisticated Sales Approach, Sophisticated Contracting Approach and Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SSA, SCA, SDA). Responsible for the hiring, supervision, mentoring, professional development, evaluation and termination of department staff members. Coordinates department activities and assigns priorities and staff to projects. Performs other duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities Responsible for direction and supervision of a large technical group providing design services for new bridges, attendant structures, bridge rehabilitation, sign structures, toll gantries, and other ancillary structures; bridge inspection services of routine and complex bridges; and authoring policy, procedures and design manuals and standards, to DOTs and other transportation agencies, typically in New Jersey and the Northeast Region. Responsible for technical coaching and mentoring; and efficient, productive utilization of staff to achieve our clients' needs. Essential Functions/Additional Position Requirements Actively leads, motivates, mentors and develops a productive and responsive staff of 35+ professionals Coordinates department activities and assigns priorities and staff to projects Responsible for hiring, supervision, development, evaluation and termination of staff members Develops budget, forecasts, hiring and succession plans for the department Works in cooperation with the office's Chief Bridge Engineer to serve clients with complex problems, clients affected by emergencies requiring a rapid response, and for the firm's national bridge practice initiatives Able to grow the department and direct the pursuit of new work in support of the office strategic plan Able to support growth of the New Jersey architecture group Regularly communicate staff productivity to the office management team Lead business development and pursuits for the department Implement and execute the firm's Sophisticated Sales Approach, Sophisticated Contracting Approach and Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SSA, SCA, SDA) Actively manage projects to deliver 4for4 (Quality work, On time, On budget, To the client's satisfaction on every project) concurrently with leading the department Perform other duties as assigned Basic Qualification Bachelor's degree in Engineering 16 years relevant experience 4 years supervisory experience Preferred Qualification/Skills Master's degree in Engineering PE/AICPSalary Range: NAMinimum Qualification15+ years
