About the Agency: Health Imperatives is a non-profit community-based agency, predominantly serving families and individuals in Southeastern, MA. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of low-income or vulnerable families and individuals in Southeastern, Massachusetts. We accomplish this mission by administering both health and violence intervention and prevention programs and services.
TITLE: Registered NurseHOURS: Part-time (20 hours/ 3 days per week)PROGRAM: DYS Southeast Region – Nauset AcademyBENEFITS: Medical, Dental, Holiday, Paid Earned, Leave, Retirement, etc.
DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Program Director/Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse provides primary care health services to DYS committed high-risk boys. Responsibilities include:1. Provides health care services to male adolescents residing in a residential treatment facility in Brewster:Adheres to daily routine and posted scheduleReceives and reviews daily report from unit staff on resident’s medical needsComplete intakes on all new residents as neededDaily maintenance of program censusDay-to-day coordination of health services in collaboration with other team membersPerform lab procedures as indicatedVaccinate youth according to MDPH timetable and guidelinesAdminister first aid when necessaryTriage, referral, and follow-up of medical problemsFollow program protocols, policy and standing ordersConsult with NP/MD on individual resident needsMaintain medical records and documentation in accordance with program/agency policyInstitute medication observation records and oversee proper recording, storage and monitoring of medications in accordance with DYS policyEnsure that all medical services are consistent with DYS policies and proceduresMaintain medical supply inventory and order medical/lab supplies as neededMaintain medical forms and necessary paperworkParticipate in staff meetings (monthly off-Cape travel required)2. Represents the health services needs of youth to program staff in conjunction with program management by:Attending program meetings as requested by program managementPromoting a team-building approach to the delivery of health serviceArticulating health-related concerns to program management and staff.3. Coordinates health education activities for youth and medical policy/procedure training for program staff, including:Identification of health care education needs of youth along with the development and implementation of appropriate curriculum and activitiesTrain DYS staff in medical policy/procedure and the individual medical needs of youth4. Maintains compliance with DYS contract guidelines by:Articulating program needs to the Program Director regularlySubmits related paperwork to program management5. Facility/Housekeeping Responsibilities:To ensure a safe environment at all times per DYS policy and procedureTo ensure a clean and sanitary working environment in compliance with agency policy and standards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Current Massachusetts RN license and two years Pediatric-Adolescent Health experience with strong physical assessment skills. Valid MA Driver’s license and ability to travel off-Cape for monthly meetings.
