Primary Responsibilities

HDR is currently looking for a Transportation ConstructionEngineer/ Project Manager to join our team in Colorado. This position providesengineering expertise and management oversight for the development andconstruction of quality transportation projects including management of projectbudgets and schedules. Responsibilities include project personnelmatters, workload management, monitoring consultant service contracts andmanaging construction processes to serve the clients project delivery efforts.Major duties include: Plan, prepare, analyze, document, and manage constructioncontracts. Ability to forecast and track construction and consultant budgetsand cash flow for total workforce, facilities, vehicles, equipment, and otherresources necessary to deliver the assigned highway construction projects.Manage and schedule the work for construction staff on the basis of establishedProgram Procedure Manual and Program Execution Plan as approved by the clientas well as AASHTO FHWA construction administration engineering environmental inspectionsurveying methods standards and policies.

Supervise the preparation of monthly contractor progress paymentestimates for work performed each month and review estimate with contractors.Direct and assist staff in reviewing and analyzing contractor project schedulesstaging plans traffic control plans and other required submittals to ensurethey meet contract requirements and restrictions. Meet with contractorsregularly, preparing meeting minutes, to plan and coordinate work, resolveissues of work areas, scheduling concerns, sequence operations, and othercontract labor compliance and administrative manners. Ensure that safety ofpersonnel and the traveling public is paramount in all work activities.Administer contracts in accordance with contract plans and specifications.Recognize and act promptly on potential changes or additional work to thecontract conflicts or ambiguities in the plans and specifications and changesin field conditions. Analyze, negotiate, and deny and/or make recommendations regardingcontractor conflicts and claims considering contract plans specifications andestimates; conditions costs and time. Conduct field visits to examineconstruction site conditions and issues. Coordinate project work to be done inconjunction with other agencies or contracts. Participate actively as a memberof the Clients construction team for project delivery. Person in this positionis subject occasional exposure to heavy traffic or adverse weather conditions.There are constant interruptions to work routine and must be able to thinkclearly and act quickly under these conditions.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Bachelor s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.

PE license in Colorado is preferred.

Willing to travel throughout Colorado.

10+ years of Resident Engineer/ Project Manager experience on transportation construction projects is preferred.

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) experience, Central Federal Lands experience , and or Federal Transit Administration (FTA) experience is desirable.

Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong written communication skills.

This position typically requires successfully passing drug-screening procedures prior to being hired; thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing. HDR is a drug and alcohol free environment.

Project assignment location may vary within Colorado and/or central & western states must be willing to travel.
