Title: Internal Communication Specialist

Function: PR/Communications

Department: PR/Communications

Reports to: Country Internal Communications Manager

Direct Reports: None

Overall Job Function: Collaborate with all levels within the organization to create, edit and distribute communications to the staff of H&M USA. Acts as a brand ambassador on all internal communication platforms and is the primary resource for communication and tools supporting stores.

Job Responsibility including but not limited to:

Strategic Planning:

* Supports Country Internal Communications Manager in developing the internal communication strategic plan.

* Creates communication plans from launch and execution, to long-term sustainment

* Strategy execution through all delivery methods including print, digital and video

* Determines the best method/platform for communication based on audience and desired outcome

* Analyzes and improves store-level communications to find new and effective methods to deliver information to different audiences


* Serves as an internal communications resource to office staff to:

* Improve content effectiveness

* Maintain internal communications protocol about consistency and formatting, layout and messaging

* Ensures internal brand and tone of voice is consistent with H&M brand in both digital and printed communication tool

* Partners as needed with cross-functional teams to create communication plans for initiatives and events

* Partners cross-functionally with concept teams and head of merchandising to create and publish Shop Info by agreed timeline

* Monitors internal intranet platform (SIP) for report analysis, updates posting guidelines, assigns new users, updates passwords and maintains site. Ensures all content published on SIP is current and relevant

* Monitors non-desk staff email platform (SEC) for report analysis, updates posting guidelines, assigns new users, updates passwords and maintains site

* Publishes Shop Info, Behind the Seams and Just for You weekly on communication platforms for US and Puerto Rico

Employee Engagement

* Manages the internal employee engagement platform, H&M Insider and is the first point of contact

* Increases adoption and log-ins through targeted communication strategies, plans and contests

* Manages maintenance, posting guidelines and all reporting for H&M Insider site

* Manages and analyses H&M Insider reporting data to strategize employee engagement plans across both store and Support Office teams

* Creates content calendar to drive engagement utilizing the company activity plan

* Partners with external vendor to maximize reports, maintenance, support and new features

* Partners with appropriate stakeholders to secure planning and execution of communication and engagement plans to support functional initiatives

Financial Accountability:

* Staff Giveaway Budget - linked to Engagement (part of PR/Communications Budget)

Minimum Candidate Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree or years equivalent experience in internal communications, strategic planning or branding

* Proven ability in writing, editing and strategic planning

* 3 - 5 years' experience of working in a store retail environment preferably H&M as a Department Manager or Store Manager

* Equivalent retail or service industry management experience will be considered


* A demonstrated capacity for leadership, communication and teamwork

* Ability to research and take ownership of projects

* Strategic thinker who is comfortable with all levels of stakeholders

* Confident in presentation and advisory skills

* Attention to detail with strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments at once

* Proven ability in writing, editing and strategic planning

* Strong diplomacy and inter-personal skills to negotiate competing priorities and resolve conflicting points of view

* Excellent command of spoken and written English

* Proven critical-thinking and analysis skills and ability to use data to develop insights and strategies

* Ability to collaborate with and support business leaders, employees and executive leadership

* Passion for employee experience and translating complex concepts into simple, comprehensive, engaging stories

* Must be proficient in MS Office

* Strong commitment and experience with providing a high level of customer service

* Strong professional maturity and the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information
