The Director is responsible for the overall development, implementation, and supervision of the After-School Center at the Afterschool program at PS 246. S/He serves as the liaison to school staff and is responsible for required documentation reports.

Reports to: DIVISION DIRECTOR, BRONX COMMUNITY BASED PROGRAMS
Location: 2641 Grand Concourse, Bronx NY 10468
Hours: 35 Hours/Week; Exempt
Major Duties:
+ Provide overall leadership for the After-School Center and the development of school and Good Shepherd linkages within the school day.
+ Responsible for program and staff scheduling.
+ Supervise assistant director, group leaders, program aides, consultants, administrative staff and volunteers; complete timely performance evaluations.
+ Develop and facilitate weekly staff meetings.
+ Conduct program outreach and coordinate enrollment and registration for all programs at the After-School Center.
+ Develop and oversee the implementation of engaging, age-appropriate activities.
+ Ensure the safety and cleanliness of the site.
+ Supervise family involvement activities, as well as communication with parents regarding program expectations, child behavior and health and safety issues.
+ Provide daily crisis intervention with participants regarding personal and/or in-school issues that affect success in the program.
+ Ensure appropriate utilization of internal and external databases, including DYCD OST database.
+ Complete required narrative and statistical reports in a timely manner.
+ Liaise with the principal and designated staff of Brooklyn Excelsior Charter School to coordinate the activities for the program with ongoing educational programming.
+ Participate in appropriate school-based teams or committees.
+ Assume responsibility for partnerships with other community groups.
+ Partner with Good Shepherds programs within the school to maximize comprehensive services provided to students and families; create linkages between Good Shepherd staff and Department of Education (DOE) staff.
+ Monitor program budget and oversee implementation of Quality Improvement (QI) activities.
+ Work collaboratively with central office staff , providing information as needed in an efficient manner.
+ Ensure programs compliance with Department of Health (DOH), DYCD and COA accreditation requirements.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelors degree in a relevant field strongly preferred or a minimum 3 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in youth development programs and supervision.
+ Must be able to engage in crisis intervention activities and demonstrate, lead and teach a range of group activities.
+ Must be available for weekend training requirements.
+ Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
