Job Description

Yard Jockey (Refrigerated Division)

Yard Jockeys at our facilities work to efficiently and safely transport, track, store, and dock chassis, loaded and empty containers, and various types/sizes of trailers. As a member of our team you will be tasked with operating various types of yard jockey trucks and yard equipment, used in conjunction with an array of technologies, to quickly and accurately handle containers according to company and governmental standards.

The starting rate for all Yard Jockey truck drivers is $14.25 per hour. Upon the successful completion of an initial training program and a minimum number of hours worked with satisfactory job performance, the rate increases to $18.65 per hour.

Work Authorization / Security Clearance

All employees of Gloucester Terminals LLC must have a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Those in possession of a TWIC will be given priority. Information on the TWIC can be found here.

Minimum Requirements

Must possess a valid Driver License

Must possess Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

18 years of age or above

Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

Be able to work a fluctuating, non-traditional schedule

Have reliable transportation

Strong work ethic and the ability to follow instructions within a team environment

Experience operating Power Industrial Equipment (forklift, yard trucks, top pick, etc) is strongly recommended

Preferred, but not Necessary

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

Experience handling container cargo (i.e. jockey truck, yard truck, top pick, etc.)

Work Conditions

This position involves exposure to widely varying temperature ranges, as well as to all environmental weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.). Additionally, extended periods of walking and/or standing are required.

Union

Yard Jockey driver is a union position. Initiation fee and union dues are required as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
