The GIA Instrument team is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the team in Secaucus, NJ. You will be part of a small team of Engineers responsible for building and maintaining Instruments for GIA laboratories. As an integral part of a small team, you will be actively involved in all aspects of electric parts development, from design to build and deployment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design of electrical systems for a variety of projects.
  • Create plans, schematics, equipment/parts selection, load calculations, systems narratives and specifications, system design and layout.
  • Prepare due diligence and feasibility reports and documents.
  • Provide engineering support for Senior engineering staff.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, PLC, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment, including programmable controls, power supplies, drives, gauges and test equipment.
  • Use and maintain various hand and/or power tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons
  • Work collaboratively with the entire design team.
  • Assembly of complex automated machinery as well as expertise in trouble-shooting problems and implementing hands-on solutions.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
  • Must have strong background with electrical schematics and machine wiring, electro-mechanical systems.
  • Ability to interpret and work from schematic, wiring diagram, or electrical drawings.
  • Must be an effective team player and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to respond and adapt to change
  • Able to work well in small teams and take direction from others
  • Well organized, with good written and oral communication skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) (MS Preferred)
  • 3-5 years relevant experience in design of electrical systems
