**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. seeks an ambitious, charismatic, creative professional with outstanding fundraising and leadership experience to lead development and communications for the school. This is a senior position that is responsible for a primary revenue line for the school. This person also participates in setting strategic direction, executing new programs and expanding the schools international reach. Longys Chief Development Officer must have a passion for the expansion and democratization of music education. While expertise in classical music is not required, this person will be someone who deeply believes in its power to transform communities and individuals alike. The successful candidate will be someone who loves fundraising from all channels individuals, foundations, capital campaigns, special events - and is constantly generating new ideas and carrying them to fruition. The school seeks someone who knows how to engage prospective and current donors to raise money for its core conservatory programs and multiple co-curricular programs, as well as recognize and capitalize on the possibilities presented by its exciting future. Responsibilities: Leadership of development and fundraising to support Longys goal of being recognized as the conservatory that most prepares students for a meaningful life in music. Grow the fundraising base by increasing the donor pool and increasing gifts year over year. Create and implement an annual fundraising plan in conjunction with the President and senior staff to meet Longys budgeted revenue requirements. Set goals and report on progress on a regular basis. Oversee grant writing and proposals in conjunction with the Associate Director of Donor Engagement. Staff the Governance & Development Committee of the Board to support board members efforts to recruit new members and generate significant gifts. Ensure that key prospective and current donors are actively stewarded with face-to-face-meetings, phone calls, special events, and other methods of contact on a frequent and regular basis. Lead the development and marketing teams to create new methods for communication with existing and prospective patrons. Prepare compelling, personalized proposals that appeal to benefactors. Direct the planning and execution of the annual gala; supervise the work of the Assistant Director of Development and Events to bring the event to fruition. Spearhead the Gala Committee and be a primary solicitor of gifts from key stakeholders. Manage and direct other fundraising events throughout the calendar year. Oversee the Marketing and Communications Department and lead cross-functional teams to influence enrollment, alumni engagement, special events and fundraising. Be a leader for the team that inspires creativity, collaboration, outstanding work ethic and joy on the job. Thrive on constant change, be self-motivated and an independent thinker who can meet deadlines, resolve conflicting priorities and have outstanding interpersonal skills. Write regular performance evaluations for all direct reports and provide them with constructive in-the-moment feedback to develop strengths and address weaknesses. Over five years senior-level experience in leadership/major gifts, campaign, or annual fundraising, preferably in higher education or the arts A track record of achieving ambitious goals by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and closing major gifts from individuals. During periods of high volume and major events, work after hours and on weekends is not uncommon and will be required. Familiarity with development software and reporting; Raisers Edge preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent writing ability and organizational skills. Occasional travel is required to attend conferences and workshops.
