ROLE SUMMARY
Emerald Expositions is seeking a skilled and experienced individual for the role of Event Marketing Manager for the companys flagship ASD Market Week event brand, Source Direct and the premier souvenir gift industry event, IGES.

With strategic direction from the Marketing VP, the Event Marketing Manager is responsible for developing, executing and measuring conference programs, partnerships, barters, research and experiential marketing programs with the goal of creating experiences that increase customer retention and build advocacy.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a marketing role with a strong understanding of building strategic partnerships, on-site event marketing and planning, execution and best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop experiential marketing initiatives including events, customer engagements and other marketing extensions (example: on-site meet ups of like-minded customers to further add value to their attendance at the event). This involves delivering creative solutions to deliver against business objectives while carefully tracking budgets and results
  • Lead the conference and learning arm of our brands. This is a hands-on, a-to-z position from acquiring speakers to developing timelines, calls for papers and all admin related to entire conference program including website updates and schedule materials. Manage relationships with speakers throughout the entire program cycle by executing contracts, communicating specific deadlines, expectations, and guidelines, and providing feedback to speakers as part of an ongoing effort to improve customer experience
  • Build relationships with industry media partners and solidify barters or partnerships to help further promote the brand and expand reach to their industry audience. Responsibility to execute barters and partnerships
  • Responsible for the planning and execution of on-site show experience to include way-finding & signage, show directories, experiential marketing and all printed and digital on-site marketing needs
  • Work with marketing and sales leadership to develop research & surveys both post show and as needed
  • Develop meeting budget and control expenses within the budget
  • Partner with VP of Marketing to identify strategic co-location partnerships and help develop those partnerships to fruition. Will act in more of a sales role in this function by selling the target partner on the value of the collaboration
  • Work with VP on overall strategy, tactical planning and analysis of all assigned program efforts
  • Understand sales goals and objectives, key marketing messages, and product focus, and bring these elements to life in an event environment
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and help identify unique opportunities
  • Be a student of our industry, of trends, competitors and culture. Listen, learn and mine insights that direct the brand into great places

REQUIREMENTS
  • College degree preferred
  • 4 years previous experience in marketing, event management or hospitality management.
  • Proven skills in project management
  • Strong planning, organization and multitasking skills, you must have these to succeed in this role
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to organize and prioritize workload, you must be very organized to succeed in this role
  • Very computer savvy; proficient in MS Office, strong excel and powerpoint skills, any design experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge and experience in market research
  • Creativeness is a must
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation ability
  • A problem-solving self-starter, able to work with minimum supervision and thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Travel required (approximately 15% annual for up to a week at a time
  • And most important, a strong work ethic is essential.
