A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RECREATION SPECIALIST
As a Recreation Specialist you work with people with developmental disabilities to identify activities of interest and coordinate recreational opportunities in the community according to those interests. You assist with implementation and monitoring of a fee for service therapeutic recreation program, train and attend Special Olympic events and set goals and objectives with follow up documentation.
Another amazing aspect of your job is to work with people in a warm water therapy pool, monitoring swimmers and the proper water levels. You enjoy the competitive nature of this role as you participate in various sporting events.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A RECREATION SPECIALIST
* High School Diploma or Equivalent
* 2 or more years of experience in Therapeutic Recreation, Community Integration Activities or Special Education.
* Must have experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
* Knowledge and experience in team and individual sports.
RECREATION WORK SCHEDULE
This work schedule varies from week to week. You'll be required to work 36 hours every week however there isn't a set scheduled and days and hours will change often (including weekends).
