The Director of Marketing this role is responsible for directing and overseeing the downstream marketing vision, objectives, initiatives and marketing plans for the commercial North America organization to meet current and future business goals and strategies. Serves as the Commercial Marketing leadership interface between SBU Marketing Platforms, R&D and US RCO Sales organization. The ideal candidate will analyze and define the macro market for commercial product growth; maintain an analysis defining the total market, company market share, competitor market share, and sales performance.Develops marketing plans, business plans, marketing strategies, and action plans for identified targets of opportunity that clearly define objectives and goals.Provides coordinating guidance across the RCO, performing regular reviews of brand management according to developed processes and guidelines.Consults and collaborates with upper management to develop business visions and strategic direction.Drives Executive Review portion of S&OP process, in coordination with the Sales and Distribution departments.Communicates key objectives to Marketing staff, senior management and Sales personnel as appropriate.Provides strategic market research support, conducting regional and/or local competitive surveillance and highlights reporting.Provides reports to VP of Marketing US RCO, highlighting changes/recommendations on the business and relevant Marketing summaries.Researches, analyzes, and monitors financial, technological, and demographic factors to capitalize on market opportunities and minimize effects of competitive activity.Monitors competitive products and marketing activities.Evaluates and recommends distribution channel development programs.Serves as liaison with outside agencies on ongoing promotional campaigns.Oversees development and production of promotional and collateral materialsEstablishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key community and strategic partners.Resolves conflicts and facilitates changes in structure of marketing group to ensure objective fulfillment and swift response to marketing problems and opportunities.Conducts marketing surveys on current and new product concepts, and provides feedback for future product developmentProvides direction, leadership and Marketing culture to Brand Management, Marcom, Web, EDM, Social and Analyst functions.Establishes priorities and develops task assignments for department personnel.Selects, evaluates and develops staff to facilitate the attainment of company strategies and objectives.Reviews and approves selected invoices, expense reports, marketing/communication material, marketing plans and content documents for assigned area.Consolidates annual marketing plans for assigned area, monitoring performance to ensure that current and anticipated needs are met.Establishes processes and metrics for marketing activities to ensure effectiveness of marketing activities.Provides leadership and support to direct reports relative to progress of work, resolution of problems, and assurance that standards for quality and quantity of work are met.Provides consistent performance feedback and coaching to direct reports to assist in employee/career development.Ensures that proper regulatory procedures and work instructions are in effect and are being closely followed by all direct reports.Complies with company and departmental policies.Working through Quality Group, reports complaints in accordance to complaint handling process.Performs other duties as assigned. Education: BS degree in Marketing or Business from an Accredited University or College; advanced degree strongly preferredYears and Type of Experience:A minimum of 15 years management experience with a minimum of 10 years of classical marketing or product marketing experienceAreas of experience should include team-based projects, new product development/management, brand development, customer estimate management, EDM/social initiatives, and web/e-commerce and Marketing communications.Experience in the pharmaceutical/medical device industry and/or consumer packaged goods strongly preferred.Demonstrated success in the positioning of a new brand and new products within an established market.Experience and comfort working in a fast paced environment and delivering results with efficient use of resources.Experience working with external suppliers, e.g., advertising, research and P.R. agencies.Key Required Knowledge, Qualifications and Capabilities:Knowledge of the methods and procedures involved in strategic business planning and classical marketing; knows the organization s markets and products, key business processes, distribution channels, key suppliers and industry competition.Ability to supervise/forecast expenses for department/company needs.Creative skills for both printed materials, advertising and presentations.Knowledge of multi-media production, communication, and promotion techniques and methods.Knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution. This includes strategic planning resource allocation, leadership techniques, and classical Marketing modeling.Knowledge of the policies and procedures involved in managing an organization s risk exposures to achieve its objectives in a manner consistent with public interest, safety, environmental factors, and the law.
