JOBLicensed Psychologist Director ensures the psychological services are provided to the inpatients of the Clarks Summit State Hospital, including appropriate psychological evaluations and treatments; to ensure provision of consultation, counseling, and education as needed. The position includes supervision of all behavioral health clinicians in the Psychology Department. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES1. Develops and maintains a plan for the Psychology Department which assures that appropriate psychological services are provided. 2. Coordinates the psychological services program with other disciplines and integrates new policies and procedures into existing programs. 3. Assures that the Psychology Department meets the standards for all accrediting and certifying bodies. 4. Provides updates of hospital wide goals and objectives as delineated in the hospital wide Program Plan and Budget through memoranda and Department Directors meetings. 5. Assures that the Psychology Department meets all quality improvement standards and is integrated into the total hospital wide quality improvement service. 6. Consults with psychiatrists, physicians and other professional personnel concerning diagnostic, evaluation and therapeutic training programs. 7. When assigned and needed, works with patients in areas of assessment, psychological testing, counseling, etc. 8. Establishes the clinical competencies and privileges of psychologists and recommends same to the facility's Assistant Superintendent for Social and Rehabilitative Services, Clinical Director, or other appropriate accrediting authority. Specific sub-tasks include: a. Participation in assigned committees b. Monitors the clinical and treatment needs of the patients in the hospital as a whole and provides suggestions for improvement of care, new programs and/or modifications of other programs. c. Oversees the Cognitive Remediation Program. d. Provides clinical consultation and direction to department staff and to staff from other departments in the areas of psychological services and clinical treatment practices, including Dialectical Behavioral Treatment (DBT) and Positive Practices Resource Team (PPRT). e. Serves as Team Leader for DBT; f. Task: Supervises clerical staff and management-level staff in the department to ensure that departmental goals and objectives are met; g. Participates in new initiatives as they evolve at CSSH, i.e., 'seeking safety', etc. Specific sub-tasks include: a. Provides administrative supervision of assessments of licensed subordinates. b. Documents degree to which staff is accomplishing its major duties. c. Formally reviews subordinates' performance at least semiannually and then annually. d. Develops, modifies, or changes job descriptions, performance standards, and A.D.A. statements. e. Monitors and controls employee absence through sick leave usage and work-related injuries to reduce costs and ensure adequate staffing. f. Initiates disciplinary action when warranted.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSQualifications:PA residency requirement currently waived for this titleMinimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Licensed Psychologist Manager; or two years as a Licensed Psychologist, MH or a Psychologist one year of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity, or two years of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness and/or mental retardation, one year of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.Necessary Special Requirement: Possession of a current license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of psychology or possession of a current license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board.
