Overall Job Objective Performs a variety of urban parks maintenance tasks as assigned by Parks managers and field staff. Performs other duties as required. Duties & Responsibilities Performs trail and feature maintenance of the bike park. Including trail surface maintenance and rebuild, maintaining transitions between trail features, maintaining jump landings and lips. Maintains detailed records of work performed resources used. This also includes accurate completion of trail and features inspection reports, incident reports, accident reports and other tasks tracking documents. Performs general urban parks maintenance duties such as turf maintenance, horticulture, irrigation, trash removal, mowing and minor repair of buildings and structures. Maintains and track all relevant trail and park signage. Drives a city vehicle in the performance of work tasks. Operates riding mowers, tractors, etc. Repairs and maintains related equipment. Assist with Special Event and program coordination support. Qualifications REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability and willingness to work as part of a team. Work requires excellent knowledge of bike park maintenance, safety and design including but not limited to building and maintaining dirt jumps as well as regular inspection of current park features. Skills and ability to ride similar bike terrain including pump tracks, transitions to features, and etc. Working knowledge of minor irrigation repair and maintenance. Ability to evaluate conditions in assigned area and make judgments related to safety. Ability to keep accurate records, organize information, supplies and equipment, and follow established procedures. Ability to operate a variety of riding mowers and power tools. Ability to perform a wide range of physical and manual tasks in an outdoor environment under a variety of weather conditions. Ability to provide information and instruction to individuals and groups. Ability to work alone under general supervision. Available and willing to work scheduled hours. Available to work 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. any day of the week Driving record with no more than 8 points or 3 moving convictions or a suspended or revoked license in the past two years. Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS - in addition to the required minimum qualifications: Available to work special events on a variety of days and times. Some working knowledge of turf and horticulture maintenance practices and IPM practices relevant to these areas. Experience in construction, installation and maintenance of trailhead signs. Experience operating a tractor, weed whip, chainsaw, gator, mower or other large equipment. Experience with GIS and GPS systems. Previous experience in landscape construction and maintenance. Previous experience operating a variety of tractors and loaders. Previous experience operating riding mowers. Previous experience performing a wide range of physical and manual tasks in an outdoor environment under a variety of conditions. Previous experience transporting equipment with a pickup and trailer. Previous experience working with the installation and maintenance of plant materials. Previous supervisory or lead worker experience. Training and/or experience in mapping, aerial photo interpretation and map reading.
