Overall Job Objective Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor Trainings Available To view the course offerings, visit our site here! Instructs tests and evaluates participants in the Learn to Swim program, and performs related duties as assigned. Duties & Responsibilities Instructs children, youth and/or adults in learn-to-swim skills and techniques. Tests and evaluates class participants. Enforces rules, regulations, and policies; maintains safety, order and discipline of participants, and/or players, and/or customers. Performs customer relations role which may include interacting with parents, participants, business or program partners, and/or city staff to provide information and solve problems. Works as part of a team, attending training, orientation and/or staff meeting as needed. Facilitates inclusion of all participants, including those with physical, emotional, behavioral, and/or developmental disabilities in camp activities. Qualifications REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to evaluate conditions in assigned area and make judgments related to safety. Ability to organize information and follow established procedures. Ability to work well with children, youth and adults. Available and willing to work scheduled hours. Clean and neat appearance. Current water instructor certification and ongoing ability to pass all certification components. Effective interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution skills. Interest, desire and ability to provide excellent customer service. Minimum Age: 16 years old. Tactful and effective communication skills. Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS - in addition to the required minimum qualifications: Previous group swim lesson instruction. Certified Water Safety Instructor. Previous experience leading, planning or coordinating activities for persons with disabilities in a swimming environment. Previous coaching experience.
