This role works with management, technology, maintenance, and operations to bring maximum value to the business through effective leadership of the Cost and Capital Project planning and implementation process. This role is accountable to Engineering and the consolidated site engineering team to ensure the optimum utilization of design resources, compliance with all Project management systems, and utilization of accepted standard site work processes. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Participate in the capital projects planning process led by the Business and Area Leadership, to generate a clearly defined and prioritized list of jobs to be implemented, and to manage the annual Capital budgets. Reconcile business priorities with design resource availability and budget expectations to meet the business needs. Ensure satisfactory basic data is provided in the Engineering Work Request (EWR) form before releasing the job to the site design team for scheduling. Lead routine meetings to report on overall capital projects status to Business and area leadership. Include a concise review of the status of all projects and a summary of performance metrics (supplemental rate, cycle time, actual expenditures vs. budget, performance vs. schedules, etc.) and lead follow-up efforts to address any system performance issues identified during the reviews. Participate in site-wide capital projects process improvement initiatives. Serve as the Sarbanes-Oxley Reviewer for Capital Projects in areas of responsibility. Collect EWRs and drive design deliverables for business turnarounds and \"mini-outages\", and provide critiques following outages. Work with design in developing Business scope and provide estimates to allow business decisions Can generate preliminary estimates and reviewing estimates generated by the Corporate Estimating group. Collaborate with Construction Leaders, to ensure the Engineering Designs provide sufficient information for design implementation in the field. Provide an interface between construction and design to address design issues encountered in the project field installation Provide priority input to the Design Discipline Managers. Consult with the Discipline Managers to ensure that all projects are staffed appropriately to meet IFC timing requirements. Ensure that all project requests are listed on the approved priority list, and that the high spot estimates are aligned with the established budget, prior to scheduling design completion. Create project entries in our proprietary systems and track through completion. Ensure that Issued for Construction (IFC) Packages meet schedule requirements and include all required information. Audit for quality compliance and lead efforts to deliver necessary improvements. Ensure that all required engineered equipment orders are placed in a timely manner that coincides with project objectives. Work with Planner / Scheduler for developing schedules to ensure all stages of project process can be accomplished in the period to meet Business objectives In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following: Bachelor's degree in any Engineering Field 5+ years of capital project related experience in an industrial environment General understanding of chemical manufacturingprocesses Demonstrated team leadership abilities Strong communications skills, both written and verbal. The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit: Project Management Certification Demonstrated ability to make effective oral presentations. Demonstrated ability to effectively self-manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse team. Basic computer skills including SAP, and MS Office (particularly Excel). General understanding of the Capital Projects Processes. Knowledge of design practices and procedures. General knowledge of manufacturing facilities and operations. General knowledge of construction and contracting practices. General knowledge of estimating practices and the ability to review estimates in detail.
