Physician, Express Care Per diem - (3094395)
Description
General Summary/Overview: Provide urgent care services which fall under his/her field of training, including but not limited to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment, for patients presenting in ExpressCare.
Essential Functions:
1. Obtain a detailed medical history of each patient including, but not limited to, the patient's chief complaint, his/her present condition, the patient's individual history and his/her family history.
2. Perform a complete physical examination on each patient and analyze reports and/or findings of tests in order to establish a diagnosis and proposed treatment plan.
3. Effectively communicate with patients and other clinical staff to manage patient care.
4. Perform minor procedures including, but not limited to suturing draining of abscesses and splinting.
5. Refer the patient to other physicians or appropriate resources when and if needed.
6. Prescribe medication in accordance with Massachusetts statute and professional practice guidelines.
7. Maintain appropriate records relating to all services rendered in the Epic system.
8. Ensure that records and documentation are in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
9. Comply with the PCPO Infection Control plan which includes personally utilizing universal precautions. Ensure compliance by support staff.
10. Participate in peer review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other clinical meetings.
11. Assist in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested.
12. Comply with all policies and procedures of Pentucket Medical and PCPO, as well as pertinent state and federal regulations.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Graduate of Accredited school of medicine with degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
2. Completion of Accredited Residency
3. Board certification in Specialty (if newly graduated from residency, must be obtained within 3 years of graduation) must be kept current
4. Unrestricted license to practice within Massachusetts
5. Previous experience in an urgent care, hospital or ambulatory clinic setting
5. Current DEA certificate without restriction
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:
1. Excellent interpersonal skills and empathy toward patients
2. Must be able to adapt to changing situations and circumstances
3. Ability to maintain quality control standards
4. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
5. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures
6. Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public
7. Strong decision making and practical skills
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. Requires sitting and standing associated with normal office environment. Manual dexterity for using a computer keyboard and calculator.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 10 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stress in emergency situations and irregular hours.
